I spent 5 nights at this hotel for a nurses conference before heading off to a disastrous experience at the JW Marriott (posted review for JW too) - no available nights at Harrah`s on March 29/30th hence the departure.
The suite we had was on the 11th floor overlooking the Mississippi river - great view, comfortable bed, great big bathroom and living area. Housekeeping every night.
Staff were absolutely wonderful -went the extra mile for us - too many names to mention. Great location and would not hesitate to stay there when we come back to NOLA!

Room Tip: We were in Suite 1102 which had a view of the Mississippi River - it has a great bed/bath area, living area - very nice!

Check in at this hotel was a nightmare. We got there at 3pm on Sunday and they didn't have any rooms. A lady came around asking how our check in was going and we said they don't have any rooms ready she said she doesn't clean them and disappeared.
They said they would call when the rooms were ready. We finally just checked the desk at 5 and they had the rooms we reserved ready. We had a corner suite that smelled of smoke and an adjoining room which was large and was smoke free.
The room has an anxiety tube TV that isn't even digital. Something you would expect to see at a Day's Inn. The legs of the tables and if you moved anything in the room it was covered in thick dust -- think enough to write your name in. The bed sheets were soft enough.. pillows were substantial... As with every Casino I have stayed at it's hard to get the room very cold. We put the temp on 60F and it was lucky to be 68 in there. No FAN ON button for constant noise so you hear doors slam all night.
The bathroom was large and there was plenty of hot water. If you closed the door in the bathroom there were years of hair and dirt built up behind it.
So on the surface this hotel appears very nice... but they don't know how to clean a room correctly. the elevators are fast and efficient. Get a room with a river view.. quite nice to look at during the evening.
You must play in casino for a total of 30 minutes to avoid the $30/day self parking fee and you an only go in/out once for free parking. They only validate once every 24 hours no matter how much you play.

Room Tip: Get a river view

Love visiting New Orleans! We stayed at Harrah's which is convenient to most everything.
Our room faced the riverfront which was so nice. Something going on day and night on the river. We enjoyed watching the cruise ships, barges and all the other traffic on the river.
The room was excellent. Great bed, excellent amenities and very clean. We would go out a few hours each morning and our room was always cleaned when we came back. Check in was no problem. Our room wasn't quite ready so we sat in the lobby waiting. Michelle at the front desk kept us informed about wait time and was so very pleasant. I would certainly stay here again. One tip - you can park in the self park garage at no cost if you play in the casino for 2 hours in a 24 hour period. Fun way to earn free parking!

Room Tip: Ask for riverfront room if available

The rooms are nicely appointed and clean. Unlike most hotel rooms the two bed option included queen sized beds which made sharing much easier. Our room fronted the river and the barges and cruiseships on the river were fascinating to watch. this hotel is located within walking distance of the convention center, riverfront, streetcar line, D Day museum, the French Quarter, and many, many shops and restaurants. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They did charge us an arm and a leg for a St Patricks night reservation and I think that this was a ripoff. It was probably the same wherever one stayed in the city that night, alas.

Room Tip: High riverfront room so you can watch the traffic navigate the river.

After taking a cruise from New Orleans, we decided to stay a couple days at Harrahs.
The room was very nice. SPACIOUS AND COMFORTABLE. There was even an in room coffee pot (they seem to be getting extinct lately), They have a Ruth Chris Steak house.
In addition to the steak house the casino has numerous restaurants ranging from the buffet,to Bamboo, an oriental and even a very good sandwich shop called McCallister's. From Harrhs you are also within walking distance to Manning's Restaurant. You have a lot of food choices
that are all handy to the hotel

There is a tunnel that takes yiou across the street to the casino. When we were there the weather was gorgeous, but in inclement weather the tunnel would be very useful.

The front desk and conceirge were very helpful. They arranged transportation
back to the airport for us,

The hotel is located within walking distance of the ports and also very accessible to the
buses and streetcars. New Orleans has a lot of interesting places to see and the street car is
a fun way to do it.
