We went and the line was long. But it moved quickly. We went on a Sunday around noon, so expected it to be long. Once we ordered our poor boys were ready in about 5-10 minutes, fast! We ordered 3 large poor boys (2 roast beefs and 1 shrimp) for the 3 of us. We ate two, and brought the third home. They were both delicious. We had fries too, but they are just ok. The bread is very good. The shrimp had lots of shrimp on it. We have been here many times, and will continue to go. We sat outside and that was nice.

Would never have made it here if it hadn't been for the Confederacy of Cruiser's bike tour. Now that we've found it we would definitely return. Had the fried shrimp po-boy and it was great. Lots of perfectly fried shrimp.

Worth the trip to get authentic, New Orleans atmosphere and po-boys. While everyone seems to want the fried shrimp or oyster pb's, the Roast Beef with gravy is my favorite. A genuine blue collar gem!

A bit out of the way if you are a tourist staying in the FQ or nearby. Easy to get there though--ride the canal streetcar to Jeff Davis--turn right on Jeff Davis and walk 4+ blocks. Tons of choices for sandwiches and fairly efficiently run. Might be super hot in the summer b/c the majority of the outdoor seating area is not under cover. CLOSED ON TUESDAYS. Split the shrimp with hubby. So much shrimp and so good. Also got the banana pudding --didn't change my life but when you live in California you rejoice at any opportunity to experience banana pudding. Bread a bit soggy. .
