“Interesting hotel & wonderful staff!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 April 2012

We were very pleased with our stay during the NCAA Final Four. The rooms were clean & comfortable and the staff was great!

Room Tip: Rooms are small with few frills but fine for a short stay.

Best for: those wanting a reasonable, mid-range hotel in a prime New Orleans location (close to the French Quarter).

This was our 32nd hotel stay in five months travel across North America. We stayed six nights in a room with a king bed, for an average of $84/night (including tax), on the Carlson Family & Friends rate.

What’s good: Our room was on the fifth floor, tucked away from overlooking the foyer area, and with only 9 rooms on this floor we heard very little noise from the lobby that other reviewers note. Our room had a mini-fridge, microwave oven, coffee machine and flatscreen tv with usual selection of cable chanels.

Breakfast included in the rate was a great choice of the usual continental style along with a hot dish and fresh make-it-yourself waffles. The breakfast area can get quite busy and a little crowded. Coffee/tea and small snacks (fruit and nut bars) were available after hours near the bar. Free cookies available daily from the reception desk.

Washing machine and drier on 3rd floor for a small fee. Drink and ice machine also available. A small selection of grocery items are available next to reception.

There’s a small bar on ground floor that opens in the evenings. The large foyer with plenty of seating makes for a nice place to relax. And there's a small pool on ground floor though not used by us.

We saw no evidence of bed bugs in our room, had no problems with them either but noted two reports for this place on one of the bedbug registry websites.

In a first not seen anywhere else on our travels – the hotel places signs near elevators in the evenings, asking people to be quiet between the hours of 11pm – 7am. It’s unfortunate though that some people can’t read, but we love the idea of asking people to be considerate.

Minor annoyances: The room was very small and the window more a porthole – up high with no view or light, but we weren’t there for a view. Valet parking (outsourced to another provider) was quite expensive at $32 per night. Whilst we can’t be certain it was caused here (but with a high likelihood it was), our hire car was returned to us the next morning with a small dint in the rear bumper following its overnight stay here. I note they limit their liability on the valet parking voucher to $10, so best to inspect your car before and after it returns from valet.

Initially our mini-fridge and room safe were out of order, however both issues were resolved quickly once raised.

Staff service was efficient and attitude depended on the individual, but sometimes was a little aloof. As other guests have commented, the explanation of a fee if you smoke in your room was emphasised quite harshly. The hotel has obviously had problems with this in the past.

Whilst the bed was comfortable, our linen had some holes in it, and some rubbish from a previous guest remained next to our bin for the entire duration of our stay, so cleaning could be more attentive.

Nearby: The French Quarter is around three blocks walk. In the same street as the hotel you’ll also find several small convenience stores. Streetcars leave from two blocks away on Canal Street (St Charles Line). The start of Bourbon Street is around 6 blocks easy walk. Try Mother’s Restaurant (for great Louisiana style food) a few blocks away on Poydras Street, and the Palace Café on Canal Street for old-style qaintness.

Would stay again on the same room rate.

Room Tip: The fifrth floor only has 9 rooms. Try one of the rooms near the elevator, away from overlooking the...

The location of this hotel is perfect, as it is on quite a quiet street but very close to the French Quarter and near the trolleys to get all around the city. The lobby was very nice looking, and the staff were all very polite, so this did make our stay good. However, the room on the second floor was very dark as the only window it had was to the corridor! This made sititng in the room a bit depressing as the only way to get any natural light in was to open the curtains so that anyone walking past in the corridor could see right in- not ideal. The room was also rather small to accommodate four people (it had two double beds) and there was barely any space around the beds or for luggage, etc. There was also some paint chipped off the walls, and it could have done with an extra lick of paint. We only stayed here for three days, and for our short stay it suited us fine, but I would have expected the room to be brighter and more cheerful. The location though definitely is one of the best things about this hotel, and I would stay here again if I was looking for somewhere that is not overpriced as many of the hotels in this area of New Orleans seem to be!

Glad to hear you had a great stay. With the hotel being a conversion of 7 historic buildings, each room is different - We definitely do our best to honor any requests that we can and get you in a room that fits your individual personality and needs. If you come back to New Orleans, definitely be sure to note the preference and we will do our best to get you a room with more natural light! Hopefully you do get to come back and visit again soon! Thanks for taking the time to share.

Country Inn and Suites in the French quarter was great. We had a class reunion so there where close to 60 of us, Everyone was so pleased with the rooms, breakfast buffet and the staff. Lisa the manager made everything so easy for me to set up our reunion. The Inn was so close to everything and when we needed to get everyone to the cruise line they had all the taxis waiting outside for us. The price was outstanding and I would highly recommend this clean well run hotel to all!!

We are glad the group had such a great stay! I know we definitely enjoyed having you here for the reunion. Several mentioned what a pleasure it was working with you. We hope that the cruise went just as well.

Come back to New Orleans again soon!

My wife and I and 33 others stayed for a week and found the service to be exemplary. The entire staff was well trained and professional and provided everything we needed for a wonderful week in New Orleans. They made us feel at home and we will definitely stay there anytime we visit the Crescent City.

Great to hear! The sales team works hard to make sure everything goes off without a hitch for our groups, and as always, the rest of the staff does whatever they can to welcome guests and make stays special. Thank you for the kind words, and I will be sure to share them with everybody.

Hopefully you get to come back to the Crescent City for another visit soon!

This was a find on Trip Advisor. The rooms were clean and the staff was noce. The breakfast buffet was good. It was an inside room so it was like being on a cruise with no windows. Nice walk to everything in New Orleans, for the price I would definitely come back

After staying in the French quarter for a few nights at Hotel St Pierre, this was like a mansion..and at the same price. No complaints, best place we stayed all week.
