We stayed here on our first night in New Orleans. Check in was at the other hotel two blocks
away where we received a super friendly greeting from reception. Our room was on the upper level and had everything you need: nice flat screen, fridge, desk, microwave, kettle, free wifi (take note Hyatt Lost Pines!), decent sized bathroom (no bath but nice big shower cubicle). Decoration is tasteful and the room was nice and clean. Location is great, just one block from the St Charles streetcar and a really great bar called The Avenue which I cant recommend highly enough but thats for a whole other review! Prytania Oaks is a good choice for any NOLA visit. Oh yes you also get free parking in the lot next door

Room Tip: Upper room as you might get noise from the room above

This place is a gem. Economical and a very nice New Orleans feel. It's in an old house in an old neighborhood. The room was small but very neat and clean. Decorated very nicely. It was within walking distance to several restaurants and bars and a street car line. If you want something that is not the typical hotel feel, we highly recommend this place. The person at the desk was very friendly and helpful. The only downside is the doors close a little loudly with this being an old house, we were awakened by people coming into the house. They had a free breakfast which is not something you will get at the large hotels.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the outside entrance.

My husband and I decided to spend the night in NOLA for my birthday. We found this place on tripadvisor & booked based on the reviews & price. The Staff was extremely helpful when we booked over the phone & upon arrival. The hoel was impeccably clean, newly renovated & had such charm!
We would both reccomend this hotel to anyone!

This is a very small hotel located in an old, renovated home in the Garden District of New Orleans. Though the rooms are small, they are very attractive, very clean, and beautifully decorated. The beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are large and very accommodating in every way. Check-in takes place in a nearby adjoining hotel. A nice continental breakfast is provided. Desk staff are very helpful and friendly. Very importantly, this hotel is located just one block from the St. Charles streetcar line which takes you the eight or ten blocks down to the central business district and the French Quarter. Some of the areas surrounding this hotel look pretty bad but the hotel is very safe and secure. We had a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed over the Halloween weekend for the festivities and also to attend the Voodoo Music Festival. It is located just outside the Garden District, meaning it's far enough away from the French Quarter for you to enjoy a relaxing brunch at the many restaurants nearby, whilst only being one block off St Charles Street and consequently only a 10 minute street car ride into the Quarter for a night out. The rooms are very well maintained, the staff are more than helpful and very knowledgable regarding NOLA and the surrounding area. Breakfast is included, and whilst its nothing to write home about, its adequate. It's only served until 9am, but if you have a late night and can't make it by then, you're probably in need a more substantial feed anyway (we were!). We had no problems walking in the area at night. There is a convenience store, pharmacy and laundromat in close proximity. Basically, if we are ever in NOLA again, we would stay here.

Great B&B - an old building converted to 6 rooms or so. Free wifi and parking and a pretty good b'fast, too. We love staying in the lower garden district and have already made reservations for 2013.

We chose this hotel because it was at least $30 cheaper than hotels closer to the French Quarter, plus it had free parking and free breakfast. Most hotels near the French Quarter charged about $30 a night for parking.
It's very close to the St. Charles street car line, located just between the French Quarter and the Garden District, so it's easy to get around, but we ultimately decided it would have been nice to stay closer to the French Quarter.
The rooms were beautiful and spotless. It's set up like a bed and breakfast. We were on the first floor and it was a little noisy at night when people would come in very late, we could hear them opening the main door and climbing the stairs.
The complimentary breakfast was nice -- served in a room across the driveway. There are outdoor tables so you can enjoy your breakfast in the sun. Selection was limited but it was all we needed -- apples and oranges, cereal, oatmeal, croissants, coffee, juice...we saw some people eating waffles but we could never figure out how they made them! But on our last day, the breakfast room was closed. There were no signs offering an explanation, so we called the front office. They said breakfast was over at the Prytania Parks hotel. It's very close by, so we walked there. It was the same selection (minus the waffles), but the setting was not nearly as nice -- the food was served in a small outdoor hallway, and instead of actual dishes everything was plastic and styrofoam.
The Prytania Oaks was a very cute hotel and a good choice if you're trying to save some money, (the free parking was great, we parked our car when we got there and didn't use it again until we left) but I'm not sure if I would stay here again.
