Enjoyed stopping in the bar Thursday night for Pinot Night. The appetizers could be your whole meal. I believe they are closed

Thank vino

I want to be as constructive as possible in my feedback because it cant be easy opening a new restaurant in a city chock-full of them. The guy who waited on me told me the owner was originally from the MIddle East, and a long time NOLA resident.
Not being very hungry but wanting to try something different, I ordered a Dolma dish and the carrot tarator, both vegetarian. This particular dolma - sun dried eggplant stuffed with rice and nuts and other goodies, stewed and served with a delicious tomato butter sauce didn't disappoint. The carrot tarator was much less successful - bland, under seasoned carrots cooked with some other unidentifiable ingredients and burnt (or at least over cooked) walnuts. I very rarely leave food on my plate, but had to make an exception for the tarator- I just couldn't bring myself to finish it.
The ambience needs some serious attention as well. The entire restaurant (there is outside and inside seating) was empty save for one other table. Add the dim 'mood' lighting and this made for a pretty dreary atmosphere. At least liven it with some candles on the tables or something if you are going to go for dim lighting. My waiter was chatty and friendly- which helped pass the time as I waited for my food to arrive. All in all, a place that has some promise, but needs to get its act together, and fast!

A lovely space, devoid of ambiance. Seemingly frantic waiters delivering fantastically slow, late service. Delicious spinach sambusa, dry, dull, overcooked Lahmacun and Doner. A "perfect margaritia" that was nothing but ice and lime juice (from a supposed craft bar). Yelp and Urbanspoon reviews were good, can't explain that, the weaknesses were too broad to credibly miss. A bad day? No.

All in all this visit was an exercise in frustration, 2 hours wasted.
