“Right in the Quarter but Peaceful”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

St. Philip is a wonderful experience. Our room was expansive with two very comfortable beds and an equally comfy couch. It was absolutely spotless. The full kitchen was nice and would be great for a family. You are two blocks from the French Market as well as the far end of Bourbon Street. The balcony was a great place to just hang out. The courtyard was incredibly peaceful as well. The pub across the street doubles as a tour guide for ghost tours. All in all, a great couple of nights.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony. It gives you a wonderful retreat.

My husband and I, as well as our three grown daughters (plus one husband and one domestic partner) met in New Orleans from Philadelphia, New York, London, and San Francisco. The idea of a shared apartment appealed to us as we wanted to spend time together as a family - not scattered in multiple hotel rooms. Our primary apartment, #3 the "Juke Joint" was painted in a fashion befitting the atmosphere of New Orleans. The rooms were clean, the staff were wonderful, and the dog a delight! We visited during the week and pretty much had the court yard to ourselves. The location is one of the best features - between the French Market, Royal St. antiques, Bourbon, Faubourg Marginy (the best music in all of New Orleans - Frenchman Street - CHECK IT OUT!), and Canal St. & St. Charles trolly to the Garden District, cemeteries, Audubon Park, etc. 1.5 blocks from the oldest bar in the USA. Free wi-fi!! Enough hot water for everyone to shower! We were on the first and second floors. Some noise from trash pick up, street cleaning, and a few folks talking as they walked down the street - but not terrible. Saw two other apartments while we were there - #6 with street balcony & #5 with courtyard view. Both were very nice.

Room Tip: Apt. #3 has one large bedroom - two queen, two single. No living room - just table with 6 chairs, co...

The location is wonderful, a couple of blocks from the center of the French Quarter, but on a side street in a "neighborhood" location. The balcony was worth it's weight in gold. Layout of the 2 bedroom was fine, a small bathroom - relatively modern, a kitchen, but no table or counter to sit, a living area which was fine and two modest bedrooms. The beds were hard and very noisy ( I mean really noisy) when any movement occurred. This is a problem for couples. The floors and bath were clean, the rest of the apartment was just grubby. It hadn't been painted in a long time and the paint was chipped, the place VERY VERY dark. The building's common areas were also just plain grubby. THE BALCONY WAS FANTASTIC TO REPEAT, WE SPENT SO MUCH TIME THERE AND LOVED IT. THIS ALONE MADE THE TRIP
We really liked the location, the staff is wonderful beyond compare and the apartment could be fantastic with some sanding, painting, a little dinette table or snack bar and a good deep cleaning. I would go back if they promised us one of their recently refurbished units.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the recently renovated apartments, we saw one and it was much nicer

very impressed with this place! loved our mardi gras stay! this place is filled with so many little extra's that it is hard to believe we lucked out finding it.First off the apartment was very nice, very clean, everything looked to be totally brand new. As others say the bathroom's are small ,but they are packed with a lot in it. We had a brand new rather huge shower, indeed spa like just as advertised, blow dryer, nice granite counter, and of course a commode, which is also brand new .(either that or they are obsesively clen freaks here) kitchen also appeared to be brand new and very clean,.Loved the carpet it seemed to match the wall paper, also had a nice large balcony which was perfect for people watching, hearing the clip clops of the horses.calliope from the river,as the ships whistle and occassional trainwas cool. Now for the extra's ,when we first arrived we were greeted with not only a king cake, but a six pack of abita purple haze beer- perfect New Orleans combo in our opinion. The apt. was stocked with not some regular yucky generic coffee ,but the really good New Orleans Community Coffee with chicory!I rave enough about the location, one block to Bourbon St.,one bock to the river. The towel exchange worked just as we were told, don't expect a housekeeper to go into your unit at all during your stay unless you pay extra for it,but it kinda made us feel more relaxed, plus we were not that messy! overall a very impressive for a small operation.....I would most definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: the balcony rooms are more expensive but it is worth it

First your are right in the heart of the French Quarter where you can find an array of anything you fancy from dining to shopping. the hotel it self is in the most awesome courtyard full of art and fountains that is surrounded by the apts. which gives one a european feeling where guests can sit and meet each other if they wish...the apts themselves are extremely clean and decorated to make you feel more like your in own home then a hotel room....and having a kitchen with all the amenities for me was a blessing because if I didn't feel like eating out the grocery store is a couple of blocks away.Parking is a breeze just a minutes away from the hotel a reduced parking card is included in your rental. If i could I would move permanently into the ST. Phillip's I never felt so at home.

Room Tip: any room you choose you will make you feel at home

I stayed in Unit 5 at the St. Philips this year from the 15th through the 27th.

First of all, the location was perfect. You're within walking distance to an endless number of historical buildings, art galleries, amazing restaurants, and (of course) Bourbon St. and Frenchmen St. I never had a vehicle, and I never felt like I needed one. I also felt perfectly safe walking through that area at night (but, like in any city, don't be a drunk, stumbling idiot).

The apartment itself was very nice. The furniture and appliances all seemed new, all the dishes, pots, pans, and silverware that I needed were there. The housekeeping lady was very accommodating and provided me faceclothes, towels, and changed the linens whenever I asked. She even showed up at my door the second day with a King Cake! Craig (the owner) was very helpful with suggestions for what I should do and see.

I have nothing but good things to say about the St. Philips, and I look forward to staying there again the next time I visit New Orleans!

We spent 3 nights here during BCS Championship weekend and had a BLAST!!! Craig, who owns the place really makes you feel right at home. He was very helpful in recommending nightlife, restaurants, places to see, etc. The apartment was stocked with a few snacks upon our welcome and it was clean. Great location in the French Quarter!! Close to Bourbon Street and Jackson Square. Nice balcony you can look down from. Very secure place. Can't wait to come back for a Saints game. I will definitely stay there again in the future!!

Room Tip: Apartment #7 is perfect for 3 people. One queen size bed and they have a nice twin seat that conver...
