I spent a week in August at this Chalet with my 14 year old son. The holiday was booked last minute through Thomson Lakes and Mountains but despite the very cheap price the accommodation was a very nice surprise. The rooms are very basic but very clean and the bathroom looks new. Also a nice balcony looking out to the mountains. No TV in the room but we were aware of this and so took along our ipods and portable dvd. The chalet is in the centre of the town and it is 5 minutes walk to both cable cars and the train station and so was an ideal location. However, the best thing about the accommation was the staff. Chris, Steph and Aneka were fantastic. On hand to answer any questions and always around at mealtimes to chat with you. The food was good value, a home cooked meal every night (including Chris' dreamy chocolate pudding). Not forgetting of course the 4pm tea and cake. This was lovely to pop back for before heading off to the outdoor pool for the last couple of hours of the day. Lemon Drizzle was a particular favourite, however overtaken on the day of departure when Steph packed us off to the airport with a slice of carrot cake - this was scrummy. All in all a great holiday, made all the better thanks to Chris, Steph and Aneka

Room Tip: take an ipod or portable dvd

I have just got back from a week long stay here with my girlfriend and my parents booked through Crystal holidays. In total, for four adults, the holiday came to less than £1000 including flights, transfers and half-board accommodation - quite a bargain! I must admit that knowing the price I arrived absolutely no expectations and as far as I was concerned if there were beds in the rooms that would be a bonus.

Upon arrival I was impressed with the central location, right in the middle section of the high-street and only a few minutes walk from the two lifts. The town swimming pool is also within 5 minutes walk. The accommodation is on the first floor and below is a cafe which is apparently excellent, though I did not personally try it. The cafe has wireless internet which can be picked up in the hotel. The wifi is passworded but at time of writing the password is one of the words in the previous sentence.

Upon arrival we were shown to our rooms by Chris, one of the three staff who live and work there. He showed us where the breakfast/dinner room was, told us meal times and checked on any dietary requirements that we had.

The room was basic with bed, table, chairs and wardrobe. The bathroom appeared to be pretty much new and was of a good standard. There is no TV in the rooms or in any communal area. All rooms come with balconies though these are not private as they are separated from each room by a waist high partition.

Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 9:30 and is very Austrian with a selection of cereals, rolls and jams, ham and cheese. Boiled eggs can be ordered upon arrival each morning and are generally fairly quick to arrive.

Afternoon coffee/tea and cake is available between 4 and 5 pm and each day it was exciting to see what would be the offering of the day. Without exception they were all fantastic, the lemon drizzle being a particular favourite.

Dinner is a very social event, with only four large tables and plenty of rooms it is necessary to share with other guests. This is an excellent opportunity to meet other guests and make some friendships. Dinner generally consists of three courses, though sometimes starters and mains are combined. Each evening has a theme and without exception every meal was excellent. Beers, wine and soft drinks are available and must be marked up on the honesty sheet in the dining room. Bottles of wine are 6 Euros and cans of beer 1.50 Euros. If you are in an odd numbered party it is best to arrive slightly early as otherwise you may end up sat apart due to other people having sat in groups.

In this review I have saved the best till last and that is the staff. The best part about this hotel was the staff who simply couldn't have been better. Chris, Steph and Anika were fantastic. The home-cooked meals and cakes each day were absolutely excellent. If we had any questions, they were answered if they could and if not they would immediately contact someone who could and get the answer straight back to us. There is practically no way in which their service could have been better and they are fantastic ambassadors for Crystal/Thompson.

We went to the Chalet Haus Tyrol on 13'Th July for a week, and it was a great place to stay.
We booked a last minute bargain through Thomsons, so we were expecting a basic hotel because of the price we paid.
The room was very clean, had an Austrian style bed which was very comfortable. Our bathroom was in the corridor outside our room, which I was a bit concerned about but it was fine as all the other rooms have there own bathroom. The bathroom was very clean, Like one of the other reviewers suggests, take your own hair dryer and soap!
Our balcony was shared with the room next door and we had a view of the main road, and mountains.
The people that run the Chalet are absolute stars! Whatever they are being paid in my opinion isn't enough.Chris, Steph and Anika are so welcoming and friendly, and Anika's cooking is fabulous, we loved her food, and large portions!
We especially loved the Italian themed night, where we had Mozzarella and tomato salad, one of the loveliest Lasagne's, and Pannacotta for Dessert, or the Honey and mustard Chicken was delicious.
In the afternoon (between 4 and 5pm) there is complimentary tea, coffee, and Steph's amazing cakes. The Banana cake was SO nice, also the Victoria sponge, or Lemon Drizzle! She is very talented and we miss her cakes!.
For drinks with Dinner there is a little fridge in the dining room which you can buy Wine for 6 euros, Water for 1 euro, and Beer for 1.50 euros.
Breakfasts were Cereals, Rolls, Jams, Cheese, Ham, and boiled eggs, as long as they hadn't exploded! lol.
Our room was at the front of the Chalet, and I was woken up a couple of times by very loud Austrian people, but considering it is on the main road the noise was not bad at all. I would have thought that the rooms at the back are probably quieter.
The Chalet is in the middle of Mayrhofen, so there vare lots of Cafes, Souvenir shops, (that sell the most amazing array of rubbish!), the cable cars, and supermarkets are all within a 5 minute walk.
I would thoroughly recommend this chalet if you are after a relaxing, and inexpensive holiday.

Recently stayed in the Chalet Haus Tirol in Mayrhofen 25/6/11 to 2/7/11.
This accommodation is on the main street in Mayrhofen & was refurbished & re decorated at the end of last year and for the price is excellent value. In particular the bathrooms have excellent showers and the fitments are all new. All rooms have balconies and the accommodation is expertly run by 3 Crystal staff Steph, Chris and Anika who is a fully trained chef. I read a review about Stephs baking before going on holiday and I can definitely recommend the free afternoon cakes with coffee/tea ( Typhoo tea no less) . The half board option started at the end of our holiday but the food that Anika cooked was excellent. In the dining area there is a fridge where you can buy bottles of wine for 5 euros & large cans of beer for 1.5 euros.
I would definitely recommend this accomodation and would stay there again in the future.

Room Tip: rear rooms are probably quieter than the front ones

My husband and I have just returned from the Chalet Haus Tirol with Thomson Holidays ( also available through Crystal Holidays) and it was wonderful. I must admit I was a little apprehensive before we arrived as we usually stay at 4 star hotels but the late booking deal we found on the internet was too good to pass up so we decided to give it a go and I'm so glad we did! The Haus Tirol is on Mayrhofen's main street, about a three minute walk to the Penkenbahn lift station and only a ten minute walk to the Ahornbahn lift. There are an abundance of shops, restaurants, hotels etc. literally on your doorstep. The room we had was on the first floor with a large corner balcony which meant we could get the sunshine for most of the day. It was a good size room with pine floor boards, a typical Austrian bed and pine furniture. It was fairly basic in style but extremely clean and tidy. The en-suite shower room was immaculate with plenty of towels.
The beds were exceptionally comfortable - although only one pillow each. The British hosts, Chris and Steph, couldn't have been friendlier and provided a lovely welcome and served breakfast each morning in the cosy dining room - boiled eggs, rolls, cheese, ham, jams, yogurt, tea, coffee. Again, each afternoon Steph baked a delicious home-made cake that left Nigella's and Delia's best attempts looking very sorry indeed ... Steph's cakes were amazing! - and these were served with complimentary tea and coffee.
If you want a great B & B base in the centre Mayrhofen .. Chalet Haus Tirol is perfect.
The Cafe Tirol, which is underneath the Haus Tirol serves excellent meals & snacks at reasonable prices and is probably one of the best in Mayrhofen. We would definitely go back again!!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel may be quieter.

We booked Chalet Haus Tirol as a bit of a gamble as it has recently been refurbished and I could not find any reviews, but it was absolutely brilliant!!

The service was fantastic, the crystal staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was great too, each night we had 3 courses of home cooked food with wine. Breakfast was an option of cooked or cold.

It says 2 to 3 star but I'd say the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms were definitely a 3, it was exactly what we needed, really comfortable and each with a balcony. The bathrooms were totally brand new, and they supplied towels. There is a secure boot room which gets locked every night.

Location is amazing, literally a five minute walk to the lift with spar on the way, where we would buy our lunch each morning to save money up the mountain. The bus stop which takes you to the other resorts is right outside the hotel too. Mayrhofen has a brilliant apres ski scene, we had some great nights out! However, the hotel was quiet and there are plenty of restaurants and bars if you don't fancy partying as much as we did!

Room Tip: bring hand soap and hair dryer!
