A hundred metres above the noisy bustle of Solden’s very urban main road, the Alpengasthof is in a small settlement surrounded by green and with direct access to Summer walking trails. There is a nearby free funicular direct to Sölden ‘high’ street.
The Alpengasthof offers excellent friendly and professional service and is a relaxed place popular with families. Reception were particularly good on advice on walks and public transport (in the Summer the hotel gives guests a free pass for buses and ski lifts).
Our standard room was spacious, had a balcony and fine views. It had functional pine furnishing, but e.g. no fridge or coffee making facility.
Like most guests, we had the half board ( which avoids the trek into town after a full day walking/ biking). The food was substantial rather than haute cuisine. The buffet breakfasts are excellent with a wide choice.
Dinners are particularly good for red meat eaters. There is a choice of main dishes but if you do not want meat you should say so In advance to avoid simply being presented with a steak or some such on the first night ( after day1 guests choose their dinner menu at breakfast time).
We would happily stay at the Alpengasthof again.More
