Blue Sky Resort
Reviewed 7 August 2012

For one, come into check the place out before you decide to stay because you will most likely be extremely disappointed. My husband just came back from deployment and we drove here from Oklahoma, we looked online and thought that it looked nice & was temporary which is what we needed. We had just reserved over the phone because we never thought the pictures would be so far from what it actually is. I looked on the facebook page where they have a few more pictures and one of the pictures is of a living area with the caption "spacious interiors"... this is ONE of the units that you will most likely not get but since its the nicest, they put it online. The picture of the kitchen is also very long with many cabinets.. I have 1 regular size cabinet, one half size and then the 2 small ones over the fridge. Most of our food has to be stored on our kitchen table because we literally have almost no space for any of it. So we are not even able to use our kitchen table. The bathroom they have posted is clearly bigger & has a bath tub, I have a stand up shower and two very small children.. When we first got here and opened the door, we see that the door has dirt and scratches all over it and the blinds were torn up at bottom and middle of the window. It's clear someone before us had a dog that tore it all up but they apparently didn't even clean the dirt or fix the blinds. With the blinds in that condition, people could see into our "living area" very easily, so WE fixed them. Another thing we noticed when we got here was that all the window panes had dirt and sand caked on them, I realize its the desert but seriously? its not hard to wipe that down every now and then! The bedding is horrendous, I am not sure what color the set is supposed to be but its a dingy brownish-white color now. The first night we were here Tom came to check on us and ask how everything was, I made a comment about how there was some stuff on the comforter and asked if they were even washed. He assured me that they were.. we cleaned it all ourselves. We also turned on the Tv while he was in the unit and discovered that the remote didn't work, so if you want to change the channel you need to press the button 600 or so times. He said that he would get it fixed in a day or two and never did. We have never once gotten the internet to work for more than 8-10 minutes which means my schooling is completely on hold the entire time. The couch is one like you would find in a camper, which for the size of this place I can understand why but it was literally broken to where when you sit down you fall into the center of it. We have 2 window units which seems to be like all of the places here, but we were having so much trouble with one of them that we had to leave it off for a few hours at a time because after a while it starts shooting ice out and makes your bed nice and soggy. The trim underneath the window units are also starting to turn brown & rot because of all the dampness. Since there is no storage area at all in the kitchen we had to store our pots and pans inside the oven.. which is annoying when you forget to move them all to the top and preheat the oven with it all inside. DO NOT use the broil on the oven, better yet dont even try to use the oven because the place is so small it makes it more unbearable inside than it is outside. never fails to set the smoke detectors off. The pool is the only source of relief when its really hot and for the first 3 weeks we had to swim around all the bugs and at one point the water turned green, since then they seem to be keeping it cleaner. The play area is a broken swingset, took the kids out one time before I realized that half of it is broken apart and was too afraid to let them play because I didn't want the sharp edges to hurt them. The fitness center has an exercise bike that does not work and a pretty decent treadmill. If you want to do 2 loads of laundry your going to need a whole roll of quarters. If you are referred to this place from base housing then you will most likely be told that for a 2 bedroom it will cost 1250 a month, for some reason we paid 1350 for both months. When you ask the manager here he will tell you he does not really do billing.. call the office and they will tell you that the manager is the one who deals with the rates.. guess they just pick and choose. Every time we have tried to get someone to help us with these issues we get the run-around. I finally emailed the office with the email I found on the website after 2 weeks and the next day they replaced the couch and remote. The DVD player was swapped out with one of the other units because ours did not work.. so someone in another unit has a DVD player that does not work. When our first month was up they came to ask how long we would be staying, we told them about three weeks. We were told "I will get you a quote tomorrow". Instead of getting us a quote we were just charged for 3 weeks at the 1350 rate again. This has been the worst experience we have ever had, the staff is far from helpful. Tom tried to be nice to us but he can't really do much without the manager or the office or whoever. Bottom line, for this price you could stay at an actual house out here. If I would have known we would have stayed at the hotel on base, you actually get the amenities that you are promised and the place is just much nicer over all.

Stayed here in a 1 bdrm unit Dec 2010 - Apr 2011. Pros: Newer, detached units, full kitchen, good storage in kitchen and bedroom, cleaned once a week, ample parking, extremely accomodating on/offsite management, all utilities/cable/internet included in rental. Cons: lower end furnishings, mattress/pillows/couch could definitely use an upgrade. Overall: A reasonably priced, well managed, lodging alternative for any contractors working on base.
