This was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. What an incredible engineering feat this was in the 1890s. Great scenery and an informative narration. Highly recommended.

A must do and a safe way to see some of Alaska awesome mountains. The White Pass is old school travel and fun. The Yukon Route is a must do and quite an experience to travel thru time.

This narrow gage train takes you by some amazing scenery while also taking you back in time. You get a real sense of the obstacles along the gold rush route from Skagway to the Canadian border. It's a three hour ride up and back and the guides who do the live narritive are great! Don't worry about which side you sit on because they make everyone switch sides for the way down. So you will get your view either on the way up or down. If you want to spring for extra comfort apparently there is a car with more comfortable seating and refresthments served along the way. Had I planned far enough ahead I probably would have booked that option.

We took the Norwegian cruise line train ride which was separate from the public train ride. It's an old train and narrow so you feel every bump. We watched the other train climbing the white pass rail. Our conductor gave us background about things we were passing by which was helpful. We stopped just after the Canadian border and headed back down. There were bathrooms in every car but flushing was tough. We enjoyed the ride though if we ever went again, I'd want to go further.
