“Great Location, great deal.”
Reviewed 8 February 2012

I recently booked two nights at this hotel. It was an amazing spot for a tourist. The rooms were nice, products were great (coffee, shampoo, lotion, bodywash, etc.) and all around a great place to stay. The staff were very nice and attentive. The little cupcakes at check-in? Oh yeah...

It is in the middle of EVERYTHING. Perfect for a weekend stay. You can easily walk to The Space Needle, EMP, Science Museum, Pike Place Market, The Seattle Aquarium and countless other great places. EASY access to public transit.

As other reviewers have stated, the hotel is under construction. We were there two nights and didn't hear a sound.

We'll be back!

I booked this hotel last week, literally the night before I was traveling to Seatlle, I was impressed that they had the availability in the room I wanted, and how reasonable the price was, originally I booked only one night, but ended up staying a second night. The location is literally in the middle of downtown just off the main drag, and the monorail runs next the the hotel. I must say I was happy with my choice, the staff was awesome and very friendly, and to add, the cafe down stairs has great american homey food. I Will definently stay here next trip to seatlle.

Room Tip: the rooms are carpet free! its the fake hard wood and its great!

I have stayed at hotel five on 3 trips in the last 6 months. This is usually the lowest priced mid range hotel in downtown. If you can find the 3rd night free promotion it's the best deal in town for a mid range hotel. I will be back with the 3rd night free promotion.

Pros: close to everything downtown, a short walk from the bus tunnel, very clean, updated rooms, great rates, free internet, friendly staff.

Cons: it can be loud - thin walls & noise in the hallway can be heard in your room. Small excercise area.

As others have noted the hotel is remodeling, but only once did noise bother me. This was due to the fact that the walls are thin more than construction.

Overall, it's a great mid priced downtown hotel. Don't miss Top Pot next door -- it's a must for any Seattle visitor!!!!

I stayed at this hotel with my husband for a couple nights back in November. The pros: rate was good (booked on-line at hotel website), location was in Belltown (next to Top Pot Donuts and easy walking to downtown Seattle) and hotel and my room was nicely renovated.

Note that the hotel is renovated, not new. As such, there are a few things that seemed old such as the heating unit. It was noisy (but not bothersome to me). Also, there is free water, coffee and wifi in the room. One other thing is that the bathroom noices were very audible in the next room. A better door/fan system would be appreciated.

Overall, this is a good hotel and a good price and I would stay here again.

My stay at Hotel Five was flawless -- from the front desk service (with a smile), to the room amenities (including free bottled water, high quality in-room coffee, superior body wash, shampoo etc, free wifi), to the location (within walking distance of everywhere I needed to go). I have nothing to offer the hotel in terms of advice on making the experience better. Bravo!
The room rate I received was $80 a night -- a steal!

Our stay here was over four nights at an average rate of $104/night, including tax (booked direct on the Hotel's website). This was our 19th hotel stay in around 14 weeks of travel across North America.

Overall: A comfortable, modern room, close to Seattle restaurants in Belltown, with a little noise. Probably best for those wanting just a few nights in a good location from Sundays through Wednesdays.

What's good: Our room was brightly painted with new, modern decor including a leather foot stool, soft timber flooring, a renovated bathroom with a modern, large showerhead, and a keurig (coffee) machine with a selection of assorted coffees and tea. Towels were the fluffiest we’ve had at any hotel. An in-room safe was available.

Our king-size bed was really comfortable. Pillow comfort is quite personal though we didn’t really like ours – a heavy style that compress into a hard slope. Heating was good and quiet.

Breakfast was not included in our rate and there’s no refrigerator or microwave in the room. A restaurant on the ground floor provides breakfast and lunch until 1:30pm. We ate breakfast there one morning – tea/toast/juice ($7), and oatmeal ($5). Breakfast prices were reasonable, and service good. Free coffee and mini cupcakes were available in the hotel foyer after the restaurant closes each day (after 3pm), and a free local newspaper was available at reception. If you don’t like packet creamer in your coffee, pick a few small tubs of liquid creamer from the coffee stand in reception for use with the machine in your room.

Minor annoyances: Some noise from what we assumed were hotel renovations in progress (black construction plastic on a few windows on the second floor and we were woken before 8am on Saturday morning by intermittent hammering in the building for several hours), major building construction diagonally across Blanchard St (likely for at least the next 6 months), and hotel hallways. The hotel has a policy of putting a ‘hold’ of $20/day on your credit card to allow for ‘contingencies’. We had no problem with the money being released against our debit card, but be aware of the practice.

Our room (#533) was on the fifth (and top) floor facing Blanchard Street, more towards the end of the corridor (third last room), away from lifts and a drink/snack machine. The timber floors reflect most hallway conversations, footsteps and slamming doors, and I’d recommend an ipod or earplugs if you want a peaceful night’s sleep. The weekend nights seemed noisier and busier, with party goers returning early in the morning, and a local football game and bus load of fans as hotel guests also made for a noisy Friday night stay.

The building has two lifts which worked quickly, and drink/snack/ice machines are available.

Nearby: Top Pot Doughnuts across the road on 5th are a must. Ralph’s Grocery & Deli is a few blocks away for cheap and wholesome soups and sandwhiches. You’ll find plenty of restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel, in the Belltown area. Try Mama’s Mexican for grungy ambience, and good value large-sized mexican meals. Pike Place Market is a great walk of around 5 blocks (try the Russian Bakery and check out Starbuck’s first ever store), and city stores are a similar distance. The Space Needle is an easy, half mile walk.

For something unusual/different: Wexley School for Girls is an advertising agency along 5th – look through their windows; There’s colourful knitting around the trees in the park on 3rd Avenue & Yesler Way/Jefferson St.

Transport: Seattle has free buses in the downtown area!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms x18, x19 and x25, which are located near lifts and drink/ice machines, and are likely to...

This is a great hotel with everything you need for a great price. Rooms are really spacious and very clean. The hotel is also very 'funky' the decor and furniture is very retro.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is also great, everything is within walking distance.
I would recommend this to anyone visiting Seattle. We stayed for 3 nights but only paid for 2 as part of a promotion they were offering which was also great and made this even better value for money.
