I love thin-crusted wood-fired pizza and typically seek this item out on restaurant menus when I am in the mood to indulge. Café Lago is simply the best, and consistently the best. And I would go as far as to say that it ranks above similar pizzas in other Seattle restaurants I've tried, and extremely favorably in restaurants in other cities. It's a hit! While I frequently choose the various new and changing toppings on their pizzas, the traditional Margarita pizza remains my favorite. There are wonderful starters on the menu-- the roasted beet salad with grilled endives was sensational; Caesar and mixed green salads are always reliable. The lasagna and other pasta dishes are also outstanding, according to the friends with whom we often dine. My only negative about Café Lago relates to the wine list. Simply put, the wine list is limited, and for a casual place like this, it is overpriced. This is not the place to share an intimate dinner accompanied by a fine bottle of wine or champagne. It's a fun place, casual and can be noisy. It's a popular place for families and large gatherings. . The restaurant serves great bread to start, and it comes to the table without having to ask the server, and without an additional charge. This is appreciated, especially as more and more restaurants are charging additionally for this essential course.
