Pylons dedicated to service men/women of all military branches. Very impressive and educational. Small gift shop and very clean restrooms... It's a long way from the last ones and until the next ones! Stop!

Quiet ,understated and remote. A perfect place to respect those who have given so much. Free. Convenient to the highway with plenty of parking. Even saw a moose and calf near the parking lot.

I had been lucky enough to lived in Alaska and I remember very well visiting this place when it was recently constructed in the early. At the time it was just spot on the site of the road with just the monument with a crank water pump for amenities. Time had change and in 30 plus year since it was constructed the place still peaceful but is now much busier stop than it was back them. The Alaska Veteran's Memorial is located within Denali State Park at mile 147.1 between Anchorage and Fairbanks.

The memorial itself consists of five 20-foot tall concrete panels, one each to represent the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard, arranged in a semi-circle. A statue of two Alaska Territorial Guards, On each panel is a short history of that branch's contribution to Alaska. There is other smaller exhibit in the area. Now you can find restroom and water and the state cut all the bushes so you MAY get a view of Denali. There is no camping in the actual memorial but you can camp at a nearby park. Like pretty much anywhere else in Alaska you must bring your own goodies as there is no businesses in the vicinity.

There is visitor center at the Memorial that is USUALLY open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but you can visit anytime of the year as long as the snow is clear.

There is no fee associated with this park.
