I was very impressed with the size of the Memorial and also the artifact of the plane that they had at the memorial. They also have a gift shop that is sometimes open and sometimes closed. The information at the memorial was plentiful and impressive.

5 minutes from downtown is a very powerful and poignant monument to Alaska War Veterans. I was deeply moved by the stone bugle and the lovely brief poem honoring all those who have served. It reads in part, "My stone is red for the blood they shed....If I could be seen by all mankind, perhaps peace will come in my lifetime.

A beautiful location, serene and peaceful, evokes a sense of great respect and appreciation for all those who have served their country. Take time out to pay your respects and breath in the beautiful clean mountain air.

Pylons dedicated to service men/women of all military branches. Very impressive and educational. Small gift shop and very clean restrooms... It's a long way from the last ones and until the next ones! Stop!
