This is definitely something every Alaskan should do/see, and something that would be super fun to take out of state visitors to. It's a good chance to learn about the sport that's been so important to this state.

So much fun holding the Alaskan Husky puppies, petting the other dogs, watching the informative video and going through the small museum. The people were very friendly and the $10 sled ride is a must do! It’s easy to miss the turn-off but worth finding.

Amazing to see the 83 sleds sliding on the 4th street in downtown Anchorage. Fantastic feeling with all the people around. This is the biggest event in winter time in Alaska.

We travelled a long way to see the ceremonial start in Anchorage, and then onto the official start in Willow.
For the first experience of the race it was a sight to see with dogs and mushers running down the street waving to fans.
This is a must do if visiting for the Iditarod race and well worth the experience.
