The staff was friendly and worked with our limited English. Although reservations were recommended, there was ample seating, especially inside when we walked in. I get the feeling this may have been an institution that has lately begun to slip. The courtyard looked like a lovely place to eat, and we had our digestif in the area inside where the river flows under the building. It was clean and pleasant so your surroundings are charming but we eat out primarily for the food. The complementary appetizers were a little puzzling- a bit of melted cheese on a bread stick, a dab of mashed potatoes baked as a finger food and something else. Not good. We asked for the chef's choice menu at 60 euros. The terrine was fine, the scallops on risotto with squid ink was delicious, the lamb was good, the cheese course was fine, and dessert was fine. A good wine selection. Service was a little bit of tag team roundabout but we were mostly taken care of. There was a large group in the dining room that may have affected things but overall, I would not do this meal again. For 30 euros less we had a stellar meal at Carre de l'Herbes. Maybe our expectations were too high for the chef's choice menu and again, the staff was pleasant and accommodating. Not a total loss but this is the meal I wish I had a do over on.
