I am not a professional reviewer, and this is just my opinion. What caught our eye was the list of dishes on the blackboard, stuff which probably turns off the majority of foreigners, such as various offerings of offal. Besides that, the restaurant features wonderful cuts of prize breeds of cattle. These are grilled on the wood fire only at dinnertime, though. In any case, we knew were in a good place when the owner of one of the restaurants we enjoyed, happened to have lunch at the same time. We started with large portions of roasted marrow bones, our mouths dripping with delightful fat. Next for me was "tête de veau" (calf's head, but not the whole thing...), a dish which is harder to find in France because of all the preparation it takes. This version consisted of two large hockeypuck-shaped slices, and contained portions of the tongue, the cheek, and other parts, lots of ooey-gooey yumminess... There is a nice wine list very reasonably priced. and we enjoyed a tasty local rosé. Service was provided by the owner's wife, a lovely lady with a dry sense of humor. This would definitely be one place to go back to. Note to my fellow Americans: The beef in France is invariably grass-fed, quite lean, quite tasty even if it's a little chewier, but very different than the corn-fed beef found in the US.
Nous nous sommes bien régalés, et nous serons heureux de revenir à l'Alcyone pour comparer les tatouages...

Down a side street, off the main route, this small restaurant has around 12 tables outside and a few inside. There is a reasonable choice a la carte, but only two starters and two mains on the lunchtime menu. We had an Italian tomato and mozza salad, and a chicken liver, smokedvduck salad. Both were an appropriate size for a lunch starter and were excellent. Both mains were sampled, a mix grill of boudin noir, sausage and some mushrooms, and my wife had the boneless pork chop, from a black Duroc breed pig. Again both good although the pork was only just off pink, which may put some people off. No dessert, but coffee and a glass of cote de Rhône red each. Total bill, a reasonable 44Eu. Service was very friendly and fast.
Helpful hint- if you intend to have the lunch menu, it was on a board outside but not repeated in the menu inside, however the waitress repeated it for us ( in good English!)

We decided to have lunch at the Bistroquet by Alcyone because of the inviting setting a bit of the known track. Very friendly welcome by the waitress and water for our dog immediately. Music was Cuban and very inviting for a summer lunch. Had a fantastic Salade de la Mer with a tartare of daurade and raw scampi with soy dip sauce, everything very fresh! Cheese platter more than ok, so was the bill: excellent value for money and pleasant!

We went here on a Saturday night, no reservation. We'd been looking for somewhere to have steak and frites and this didn't disappoint. We both had entrecote with an excellent pepper sauce, lovely skinny frites and a small salad. The beef was tender and tasty. Washed down with 0.5l bottle of Ventoux (19 Euros). We succumbed to two very good puddings as well: tarte tatin and crème brulée. If you like steak, this is the place to go in L'isle Sur la Sourge! Total bill 95 Euros but worth it.

We had dinner in this restaurant on the small but cozy terrasse. We took the T-bone (a recommandation but not always on the menu).

Cooked on fire, the meat was perfect and tasty! The french fries could have been way better if the oil has been changed.

It looks like a family run restaurant. The father seems to be sometimes a bit rude but the rest of the family and staff balance the overall experience.
