Having not been to the South of France for 25 years, we were really amazed to find that villages like Plan de la Tour still exist! We had a really pleasant week there in early September when the weather was still good but the crowds had dissipated. The old village is small and un-spoilt, yet has everything you need: several surprisingly good restaurants within walking distance of the flat, a boulangerie, butchers, paper shop and a small general store supplying fresh fruit and vegetables, etc. – all at reasonable prices. The flat is clean and comfortable with a veranda overlooking the communal gardens and pool, which is ideal for a lazy breakfast or early evening drinks. The location is excellent, being set in beautiful countryside, surrounded by vineyards, an easy drive from Nice and only 15 minutes from St. Maxime and the beaches by car, which is imperative. The owner is very friendly and gave us lots of local information. It is an ideal spot for a couple or a family with two small children.
