As a baby boomer I grooved on the 1960s vibe of the decor, nicely updated inside. Hotel is run by the Choice Hotel Group but not cookie-cutter, which I loved. My room faced west and was bright; air-conditioning worked beautifully; bed was comfortable. Bathroom was especially nice with a quick-filling tub. Breakfast is plentiful and good (eggs, cereal with low-fat milk, waffles, more). The hotel is within a mile or less to all the sites in the center of Springfield: the Lincoln Museum, Library, home, etc., as well as good restaurants. Park your car and forget about driving. The staff was super-friendly and helpful with directions, etc. Very courteous all around When I discovered at my doorway on the 2nd morning that my room key card didn't work, the housekeeper on the 6th floor went down to the lobby to get me a new one. TIP: Don't store your room key card next to your cell phone. For some reason, it deactivates it.

Room Tip: Rooms have a wall of windows, so decide if you prefer to face east or west.

Being a block away from both the Amtrak depot, and the Illinois state house, this is a very convenient hotel to use. The rooms are modern, clean and very fresh looking. In the bathrooms there are plenty of towels, soaps and other items including a bathrobe. The receptionists are extremely accommodating and helpful. A wonderful breakfast buffet awaits the guest in the morning, with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages potatoes as well as waffles and cereal, coffee and juices.,. This is a great place to stay

We did not chose this hotel it came as part of the tour we were on.The place has new bathrooms but the rest of the place needs updating. Breakfast was ok but why paper plates and plastic cutlery?Close to the centre of Springfield. Ok

Very surprised with this hotel. Don't get thrown off with the outside. Its a wonderful well maintained hotel. Not sure if other folks who have reviewed this hotel understand the decor that the hotel l is going for and achieved. I loved the "Mid Century Modern" decor...does it make for the most comfortable seating?...no....but for "funkiness" it scores big. Check in was easy. Front desk personnel was friendly and helpful. We had a voucher from "TravelZoo" and the front desk gave us everything that was included with the voucher (great value btw)...first room was not to my wife's liking...it was across from the laundry room and she said it had a musty smell in hallway...we were able to switch rooms with no problem. Room was clean and HUGE! (King Suite)...only problem i had with room was that there was no place to relax other than the bed...a couch was in the room but going along with the mid-century modern theme ..the couch was not very comfortable...after seeing the sights all day came back to hotel and used the drink vouchers in the lounge ....it was empty at this time of night but it was very cool....drink was fine....next morning went to breakfast..it was fine...typical hotel buffet style..what was not typical was the staff person there..she was great...i wish i had gotten her name, but she was really on top of things! I am curious as to the history of this building..did it always house a hotel?...Overall, for the price and location you can't go wrong

Room Tip: stay away from the laundry room

If you are doing business at the capitol, this is a good location. Pricey for the lack of amenities. No wifi in room for 3 days (front desk no help), no fridge or microwave. Breakfast is big, but oily with stale fruit.

I chose this hotel mostly for the location as we were spending a weekend touring the Lincoln sites. The location is great - walking distance to most attractions. The room was fine but in need of updating - the lampshades had stains the the décor was tired. The bathroom was newly remodeled and very nice. Overall it was fine for our brief trip.

We stayed here a night before getting on the Amtrak to Chicago. Every employee we came in contact with was very nice. The lobby was really neat and not what I would expect. Enjoyed getting drinks in the lounge.

We stayed in a 2 room suite. The layout was nice. The futon was ok with my 12 year old but probably wouldn't be great for an adult. Once we laid it down it was impossible to get back up. The mattress on our king bed needed replaced. The fitted sheet didn't stay on the mattress and one side was higher than the other. The furniture was not clean.

I gave it 4 stars based on location, staff, cleanliness, and decor.
