The lure of this hotel is the lonely vista..that is if you like that sort of thing. Since we were on a private escorted tour, I was a little disoriented when I got there, and wouldn't know how to return.I only stayed one night.
It seemed to me to be an oasis in the middle of nowhere. The room was of adquate size, and the toilettries were exceptionally nice, body butter! I later learned that the same outfit that operates Hotel Ranga also operates this one, so there are the paradoxical luxury touches in a hotel that is outwardly ordinary.
I agree with another reviewer, the hot tub is "ordinary", in fact it wouldn't open completely..but the view from it is exceptional ,Rolling. open meadows with mountains in the distance. I greatly enjoyed sitting in this hot tub and just drinking in where I was. Also a lovely place to catch the sunset, and the sheep roaming the hills
The restaurant is gourmet, with prices to match. That is a catch at this hotel, as there is no other dinning option. So pack your own food or bring your wallet. The breakfast, as in all Iceland hotels I frequented, was exceptional.More
