There are lots of great looking restaurants in Sirolo, some overlooking the sea even, although you can pay dearly for this privilege.
La Taverna has both an inside dining area, which I imagine is chocca block in the shoulder months and a wonderul outside veranda. In the centre of the square from any seat you can enjoy a wonderful view and atmosphere, and from certain tables you even geta sea view and can see the peninsula. Perfect for people watching too as just about everybody stops to take a selfie with the peninsula in the background!
The service was second to none. Three people in total waited on us, all well trained, professional and knowledgable, with one person providing the primary care. The recommendations and wine knowledge was excellent and the prices I think very reasonable. For example a bottle of Ferrari La Perla only €32 or €34, very little mark up on this bottle!
The food was outstanding, every morsel was devoured. My friend said it was the best plate of pasta she had EVER eaten. In particular I loved the pureed bacala, as part of the antipasti plate. Very clever and not seen before. Most of the produce was local, and the pasta home made.
It seems to me this could be a fabulous place at any time becasue they have the benefit of internal and external dining. A properieter who truly 'owns' the business and understands his clients.
A definite retrun visit is on the cards.
