We have been wanting to go to Villa del Parco for more than a decade. But, we couldn't understand how the property worked and it seemed astoundingly expensive. We finally went for my 50th Birthday at the end of August, and it surpassed all of our expectations!!

We worried that because the descriptions on the website and through the Leading Hotels representatives was so convoluted and vague (the accommodations, the restaurants, the activities, the spa and how the location and category of the accommodations could dictate what was included and what was supplemental) that we would be "nickeled and dimed" for everything and that everything we wanted to do would be excluded. This was not our experience.

We were welcomed by Luana Mazzega, the manager from Villa del Parco who was warm, knowledgeable and unassuming. She privately escorted to our room, earlier than check-in time. She also allowed us to stay late as we had a 7:30 PM flight. Our room was spacious and secluded from the main pathways connecting each of the hotels on the resort. A bit about that: while the Le Dune and Il Castello are certainly closer to the beach, they are located in the main areas where all the day and night life occur. They are not as serene as Villa del Parco which is centrally located, but it an area full of flowers and trees. Nothing is very far even though the property is expansive. Normally we stay in a beach front room, but even though the Villa del Parco is not beach front it is heavenly!

Villa del Parco had spacious rooms, with a large bathroom and a surplus of amenities including Acqua di Parma and the hotel's own brand. The sinks were in a separate area from the toilet, shower and separate tub.

The Villa del Parco houses the one star Michelin restaurant on the property, the Belvedere. Dinner on the roof top terrace of the Belvedere is included in the room rate, as it the exceptional full garden breakfast. Note that if you chose to stay in another area, all seem lovely for different reasons. Nothing seemed "ratty" even the small "cabins" as it did on the website photos. These less expensive rooms are in a beautiful central, but quiet location. They are not remote or run down.

The landscaping was mature and lovely. It was groomed more like a "French/English" garden than those typically found to be overgrown in Italy. There were parrots, turtles, and exotic birds of all kinds. There were bike rentals (okay, this should have been complimentary....)!

The beach was spectaular with crystal clear turquoise water and fine, white sand beaches that rivaled the best in the Caribbean. The chairs and umbrellas, while aligned in the typical Italian style, were spacious and uncrowded. The seafood restaurant overlooking the beach was casual for lunch with exceptional quality and a salad bar that was a fantastic value.

The clubs for children and adults are unrivaled by any resort we have ever visited. There is Chelsea soccer academy with full-sized grass and turf fields. There is a rugby camp run by experts from the UK. There is yoga, pilates, dance academies, swim, golf and tennis academies. The list goes on and on. You can easily spend a week here without getting bored or tired of the dining and entertainment options. In fact, our stay was too short. We didn't get to experience everything, even though we sure tried!

Madonna's trainer comes to teach at the gym. Celebrity chefs cook for successive weeks. The dining options are varied and expansive.

There are many pools including a salt water one with a water slide. The thalassotherapy track is the most extensive we have ever seen in Europe. The gym is large and well-equipped. In fact, one of the underlying themes at the Forte Village is to have the latest, greatest and most amazing of anything and everything. As a result, there were something that looked like hovercraft shoes in the ocean that propelled the wearer up ten feet over jets of salt water! There was a cool jungle-gym like apparatus built into the thalassotherapy pool for therapy and rehab. There were hanging slings in the gym for some unique new exercise programs. There is nothing missing from this resort. If you want to try something before everyone else knows about it, then Forte Village is the place to go to find it!

Kids and young adults have so much to do. It really gives their parents a full vacation. It is like a super deluxe sleep away camp for the entire family. There is even an amazing park for young adults with super-fast go carts, trampolines, bowling alleys and a young adult night club.

The shopping area is comparable to any high end luxury mall with every imaginable item in the current season. No leftover junk is stored for unsuspecting tourists. Speaking of tourists, this may be one of the Forte Village's only weak spots. The place is flooded with Russian and UK visitors....some loud, all seemingly mega-millionaires, and some vacationing with their breathtaking model girlfriends/wives?

While Forte Village is "above and beyond," we would definitely come back! But beware, this amazing piece of heaven does not come cheap. Although you do get what you pay for and in some other places, you can't get it, even if you want it!

Room Tip: Pick the Villa del Parco, you will NOT be disappointed!

We came here on the 6th September, for a week, the hotel is now winding down, but still plenty of people about, only a handful of Russians and no Arabs how good is that! the weather and beach were fantastic. The villas here are indeed spacious with a huge terrace ,this part of the village is next to the spa, but furthest away from the beach(10 minute walk) good thing about the resort is they only charge 10% extra for a villa for single use!when we came we were greeted personally by the amazing ms mezzega the manageress who answers all the reviews, I am sure she will do anything to make your stay memorable, she wears a lovely mens rolex watch the stainless steel one( only £5k) but Wednesday is her day off so try not to come on that day,
The meals in the buffet restaurant were excellent, champagne for breakfast but no fresh orange juice, lunch at the pizza restaurant were the best, wine is included for dinner, do go to the Brazilian grill for great meats. For sure you will enjoy your stay here, particularly if you look out for some great offers ie 200 eu voucher for food, free use of spa, the wi fi is free all over the hotel and beach, so ms mezzaga told me.
Please pre book your taxi transfer with the hotel,(105) it's only 10 euros more than a taxi from the airport, and the driver always has both hands on the wheel and does not use his mobile phone!,

Room Tip: It's a big resort so try and get a room next to the entrance.

If you have more money than sense by all means go here if you like value for money I'd keep looking. This place is beautiful in terms of the village, however it is designed on an all inclusive model resort. This means that holiday makers are on a half board package and you can't really go anywhere else easily to wine and dine. So the charging structure is designed around a captive audience.

The whole resort is a tropical garden setting with a med theme which is delightful. The weather in first week of September was outstanding.

There is a sign that states leading hotels of the world when you go into Villa del Parco however doesn't live up to the title. THe rooms are very plesant but not plush more 4 than 5 star. The gym they charge 25 euros a day to enter the gym. this is because they have so many people staying at peek time they don't want the gym full. it's really not worth it and a 5 star hotel that doesn't give you gym included?? The wine list is average to extornitonate, hand dryers and maintenance in general not up to scratch. They restaurants are ok nothing impressive, some of the local food lovely as you would expect. They threw in a Michelin star meal at their top restaurant as we mentioned on a rep questionnaire our impression. This meal if you book it costs 100 euros per head to sitt down with alcohol on top. it really wasn't worth it the food was't that impressive and we didn't even pay for it.

Overalll beautiful place, over priced, good service and average maintence. Also lots of people peddling rubbish on the beach wich makes the beach trips downmarket.

From the moment of arrival the service was beyond outstanding. The resort itself is breathtaking and there is so much to do there a longer stay is necessary. The highlight is probably both the food and the spa which made me feel 10 years younger by the time I finished my treatment. Very much look forward to going back.

Memorable stay for the second, consecutive year! You might wonder about the price. Well, in my opinion and experience many other luxury ressorts, it is worth every cent! State of the art facilities, outstanding food and more importantly: one of the most professional and friendly service. Well done Villa del Parco team & see you next year.
