Food was well prepared except the gluten free pasta my daughter got that was pretty bland. Entree portions are small so make sure you get some appetizers. Good wine list and waitress made an excellent selection for us. Service was very good except the time it took to get our food- that was disappointing.

Arrived early, as we had tickets for the opera across the street. The service was slow, but in such nice surroundings it did not seem to matter. Wife had a very nice monk fish and my pizza was very good. Our waiter was very attentive and pleasant.
Overall, a nice experience.

Our group leader arranged for a private party on a Sunday evening after the theater. This restaurant in not normally open on Sunday Evening. The evening was price fixed except for the bar, where you could run a tab. The meal consisted of Antipasti served family style, including calamari which was delicious, Roasted red peppers with fresh Mozzarella which was also great. Finally Crostini (little slices of toasted bread) with white beans and arugula. Next course was Mixed green salad, There was a choice of four main courses, including Bolognese, Sausage & Rapini, Clams, and chicken piccata. I had the clams and they were very good.
Service was good and attentive, bread trays were refilled, drinks were replenished. The entree delivery took a while but wonderful when delivered. Portions size was not huge but satisfying. Three options for a light desert, all of which were well received but the group.

The price was reasonable and the drinks well poured and "normal" prices. All in all, a very nice evening and kudos to the management and staff for their efforts. A wonderful evening.

5 friends went on a cold weeknight hoping for a wonderful evening based on what we had heard.. Everything was just ok I am sad to say. Service slow even though we were early in the evening and not much of a crowd. Only 2 out of our 5 entrees were considered above average by the group. We were glad that we could bring our own wine as we could have great wine without the restaurant mark up.

Although we enjoyed our meal here, it fell short of the best Italian we have had. There was a nice Italian cheese plate for starters, and nice bread and good quality olive oil to start with. A beet salad was next, which was good, but not remarkable or particularly large. Our entrees were also good, stand-up food: baked branzino (one of our favorite fish) with a side of spaghetti marinara, and a good-sized platter of Spaghetti with White Clam Sauce. However, the branzino was overcooked and a little soft and dry (still tasted good!) with the marinara side - very good. The clam sauce was runny and appeared to be unreduced. It was simple (always a factor in its favor), but still seemed under thought. An excellent panna cotta for after was greatly enjoyed by us both. The wine list here is quite large, very good and reasonably priced - if you like Italian reds. The showing of whites and rosés is underwhelming, and the sommelier has a demonstrated prejudice against white, soft wines (which my wife favors).

The service was friendly without being intrusive or cloying. I won't say it is the speediest kitchen in Richmond, but we did not wait overlong for our meal (although we were in early). In all, a good evening, and we will go again. We wish that a little more thought would go into recipes and preparation.

Thank Robert J
