Had late lunch/early dinner here and we were very pleased. Came in about 3, and that is when they switch from lunch to dinner menu. Happy hour starts then as well.

Restaurant was dead, staff doing prep for dinner..cleaning etc. We ate at bar and had a very courteous but unobtrusive bartender, answered all questions , served drink and food efficiently but she was occupied doing her work and didn't want to hang around and chat which was great.

My wife got a Sea Ghost, 4 different rums ( 1 oz of each) topped w/151 and orange & pineapple juice. Served in 1/2 carafe and she loved it. Had a punch but well made, $ 15. They will only serve any customer just two, my wife stopped after one. The wine list is not large but well chosen and very fair pricing. I had a bottle of Mer Soleil Reserve for $ 36 that was perfect for seafood we had.

Started w/a crab artichoke dip w/seasoned toasted baguette slices. You see this dip everywhere but this is as a good a rendition as I have ever had. The bread was seasoned well, dip hot and obvious chunks of crab, avocado and pimento...cheesy creamy. Was a sure 10 as an app and plenty to share for two. My wife got the fod, Rockfish w/mashed and asparagus. A hunk of moist Rockfish w/bernaise, you can order 5 different sauces w/your fish. The fish was hot as were vegetables. She loved her dinner, I tasted the fish and I felt excellent as well. I got the flight of roasted oysters. 2 of each type the restaurant offers. Rockefeller, green goddess and two w/a truffle butter, pureed mushroom, and parmesan Reggiano topping. I'm an oyster not and loved them. Favorite two were the Rock's and truffle butter. They were piping hot like everything else. Cooked perfectly, very hot but oysters still plump juicy not over cooked. None of the toppings were two heavy. The Rock's didn't have hollandaise and I felt better w/out just crumble bacon and creamy spinach but not too much. I asked for some bread if they had some, I love to sop the juice. The bartender returned in a short time w/sliced loaf of hot bread a/creamed butter (no charge). Surprisingly the bread is the very same loaf you get at Bonefish. It's a good product.

We couldn't have enjoyed our ' Dunch ' anymore. Had not been here in over a year won't be long before we return though.

From the raves on Trip Advisor, we were expecting a little more than what we found at the Boathouse. Perhaps that's one of the drawbacks of reviews on these kind of sites, that one person's rave review is another's 'okay.' The restaurant itself is spacious, yet still feels tight, crowded. That might be from the noise level and how the tables are pretty close to each other. My wife had the Shrimp and Grits and I had the Southern Fried Seafood Platter, because, well, I had had waaay too many healthy meals on this trip. The meals were fine, passable, enjoyable even. But nothing special. Our waitress was being trained and did her best to be both chatty and efficient, but by the end of the meal, we were being given Gift Cards because she had struggled a little. Had we been on any kind of schedule that evening, it might have been annoying, but we were not in a hurry, and okay with the delays. The manager I suppose was not. An interesting thing about the manager that evening was that he approached our table to try to collect specific information about our server, evidence gathering it felt like, while the server was at the table next to ours. Rude. We did not feel it necessary to complain, frankly. The manager told us that he was sorry and that he was giving us a $50 Gift Card. But, whoops, when the Gift Card was given to us, it was for $25, not $50. Weird. Anyway, as I said, the food was okay, but pedestrian. Another thing that is a pet peeve of mine is when the receptionists hawk the tables to figure out when their 'guests' will be leaving. Isn't there a less obvious way to make efficient use of your tables that doesn't send the message that perhaps it's time to leave? All in all, this restaurant, that is in a mall, albeit a very nice mall, is about what one would expect from a restaurant in a mall. Having said that, we will be back. To spend our $25 Gift Card (not our promised $50 Gift Card).

We were in Richmond twice in August and both times ate at the boathouse. The Sushi was great and the service wonderful. Set in an open and bright atmosphere in Short Pump which is an upscale open air shopping experience.

What this location lacks in views, they make up in ambience and charm.

The staff are very nice. The management team are very outgoing and upbeat.

We visit this location at least twice a month. We haven't had a bad meal or drink here before.

The food is always fresh and it's delivered with a smile.

Thank Danie R

We have been to the Boathouse several times just on a whim and for several planned special occasions. There is a private room that you can use for a group dinner, which we did. The food is excellent, fresh and so well prepared. I have never had anything that wasn't just delicious. The service is top notch at this location and the one in Hopewell.
