I don't even know where to begin to describe the Jackson House. We've stayed at many B&Bs/inns, but this one is just the crème de crème. In every way. Spotlessly clean. From the wonderfully luxe, well appointed accommodations (every detail has been attended to - from the Frette linens, Anichini duvets, Whisper Hill locally produced toiletries, beautiful period furniture etc.), this place was created with love. The house itself is beautiful, with many lovely rooms for sitting and relaxing. The dining room has a majestic woodburning fireplace which serves as a centerpiece for the room. The owners, Kathy and Rick, are the perfect innkeepers. They deliver coffee and tea just outside your door at 7:00 a.m. so you do not have to walk anywhere for that first cup. Rick's breakfasts are so creative and amazing. Apple terrine with salted caramel, the blue cheese "soufflés" with hobknobs. his special smoked tomatoes and sous vide pork belly - he sources all of his high quality ingredients from local purveyors. The inn also has a liquor license, and offers a carefully curated selection of wine and spirits. We visited just as winter approaches, but I think this place is beautiful in every season, and we can't wait to return!

Room Tip: The suites are lovely - very spacious with soaking tubs.

We cannot thank you enough for such lovely comments about your visit with us. We feel so fortunate to have such special products from local artisans (and some from a greater distance) to offer to our guests. And, yes, morning beverages and food are very important to us, so we're happy you enjoyed. Vermont does offer beauty and relaxation in any season, so please do come again.

I was only here for one night, but I wish it had been longer. I arrived in the dark at night as was greeted with a very friendly face who showed me all around the Inn and took me to my room. I loved my room. It was cozy and comfortable. The linens were dreamy! The bathroom was small, but beautifully updated. I slept so well this night.
Breakfast was a wonderful surprise. I was given the choice between two sittings. There is a table for each room in the Inn. I appreciated not having to sit with strangers. The co-owner/chef prides himself on local, healthful meals rich in flavor and beautiful to the eye. This might be the most unique breakfast I have ever had - a mixed greens salad with an herb crusted, fried fresh goat cheese medallion with fruit compote and whole mustard seeds. Then we had a whole grain bread with fresh butter and farmer's cheese topped with 'spaghetti-ed' squash, greens, pepitas and more. It was delicious! Silly me for expecting simple eggs!
The Inn is not located in the heart of the town, but just a very short drive from it. The owners clearly love what they are doing and pride themselves in making your stay memorable. I very much hope to return!

Thank you for your kind words, we would love to have you with us again for another (perhaps longer) stay. We know that the "bed" and the "breakfast" are keys to our guests' experience with us, so we are particularly happy to hear both provided a rested, delicious way for you to move on to your day. We hope our grounds and our indoor spaces will offer you a chance to see Vermont's beauty again some day.

This Inn is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed (and we travel a lot). Rick and
Kathy do a wonderful job of hosting and the grounds and rooms are
warm and very beautiful. We stayed in the Wales Johnson suite with
beautiful views of the gardens and private patio. The bathroom was very large with
a Bain whirlpool tub and large separate walk in shower. It even had a towel warmer!
Very upscale and the condition was immaculate. The breakfasts were also amazing.
Rick is a creative chef and we were blown away with the descriptions of the first and
second courses each morning. He sources the eggs/cheese/fruits, etc. from local
farms and the quality is outstanding. We had so much fun staying at this Inn.

Room Tip: The Wales Johnson Suite was quiet and at the end of the Inn. Very private.

The Inn and grounds are beautiful. Our room was very comfortable and quiet. Rick and Kathy are very welcoming hosts and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was memorable. Rick's breakfasts are amazing. He sources produce from local farms and creates different and delicious gourmet breakfasts. The apple terrine was spectacular. Rick also booked us into excellent local restaurants for dinner.
We were sad to leave.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mary Todd Lincoln room which was lovely.

Another spectacular weekend at the Jackson House Inn for our 35th anniversary. We were warmly welcomed as always by Innkeepers Rick and Cathy. Our daughter ahd husband had arranged for a lovely welcome for us. Rick had chosen and created a beautiful tray of local specialty cheeses, fruit and homeade jam prepared in his kitchen along with a bottle of pinot noir. Rick creates the most amazing breakfasts with a very personal explanation of his local farm to table preparation. This was our second visit and we would never stay anywhere else in Woodstock.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower level are easy to access and have wonderful amenities
