We often complain that the Spa ish dont really do "Meals" & my experiences from Barcelona tp Maxrod included burnt cold sauces to "All you can Eat" tasteless salad bar fare.Bodega Gonzalez seemed to get it just right from the locally sourced beautifully fruity red to a fabulous starter for two comprising cold diced chicken in a mustard & honey dressed spinach salad. Mains were local ham with melon and fried beans in respective dishes. Tapas for the hungry!! Excellent fare and highly re ommended alpujaran food.

We had some typical food of the region and it was all excellent (3 different dishes). The service was very friendly and quick. Some olives or another small free tapa at the beginning would have been nice (perhaps they were too busy for that). We will certainly come back.
(There is also gluten free food.)

Nice place to sit out on the street terrace or there is a table inside the restaurant at the back with a great view. There don't appear to be many places for tapas in Lanjaron so came here twice but reckon this is the best. Good service and tasty tapas - what more could you ask?!

Initially we came here for lunch at around 15:30. When we sat down the waiter called out to us: closed! This while the sign clearly told us open until 16:30.

However because of the good reviews on tripadvisor we gave it another shot for lunch the next day. The tapa complementary to our drinks (tinto de verano, delicious) were nice. Same goes for the fresh bread and olives. My girlfriend had a very lovely salad (good portion) and I mushrooms with ham. Both were very tasty. The atmosphere was relaxed and there were also a couple of locals. The unpleasantness was again in the interaction with the waiter. We tried our best in Spanish but despite that we experienced a clear lack of communication from the waiter's side (no "enjoy", "here you go", "how was the food", "would you like something more?"). Also the prices were a little high for some items (€1,70 for two slices of bread). All in all we had a nice lunch but a little more attentiveness could improve so much.
