This lovely, clean, friendly hostel with lots of hot water and comfortable beds is in the heart of medieval Besalu. Prepare what you are going to say when booking if your Spanish isn't great, but the Signora is a delight and justly proud of her hostel. There are the rooms overlooking the Placa, if you want a vista and the company of the very busy house-martins (birds) circling from morning to night plus the tourists to watch. The rooms into the courtyard would be quieter but less entertaining, we think.
It was 52 euros per night for a double. We had to really persist to find this hostel listing as a local hotel has monpolised the first 2 pages of google. We finally found it on Lonely Planet.
Pretty, clean and friendly! Plenty of hot water and good beds. The rooms with view to the old Plaza and even the pajeros and tourists are entertaining. The interior rooms should be quieter. 52 Euros per room. Basalu is a fantastic town in the volcanic zone.More
