The hotel is in a prime lication just across the road from the beach and a short walk to the old town and Castle.
The rooms are a reasonable size and very clean, however the balcony from our room (315) was really close to the neighbouring hotel. It didn't bother us as we didn't use the balcony, but if you want to have a useable balcony with a view you need to book the rooms at the front with a sea view or to the right side (facing the sea) room numbers ending in 2-7 depending which floor you are on.
The staff here are very friendly and helpful. There's a small swimming pool/jacuzzi outside and also a free gym/jaccuzzi/sauna on the lower ground floor. The roof terrace is only open high season beginning in June.
Breakfast is buffet type and average, about the same as most 3 star hotels we've stayed in. I would hesitate to give this hotel a 4 star were it not for the location and free amenities.

Very pleasing stay at the PortoCristo hotel at which we stayed for eight days ; The breakfast was
extremely good as was the quite amazing value of the evening buffet priced at just 12 euro for
residents of the hotel. The attentive desk staff must be mentioned as nothing was too much trouble.
In particular a fresh faced young man and also the very kind and thoughtful slim girl who wore
spectacles !!! I could find no fault with any aspect of our stay and would certainly recommend it.
A sea view room on the second floor with balcony overlooking the beach and with full picture of
the Peniscola castle is quite beautiful.

Room Tip: as previously stated sea view second floor!

We stayed here for two nights because after mediaval Spain we wanted to spend some time on beaches. Unfortunately it rained the first dat :(. The hotel is well located, just cross the street and we were on the beach, Rooms are not too spacy, neither is the bathroom, We had a room on the second floor, wit a small balcony on the south which allowed us to have a view on the castle. If you have a room on the other side of the hotel, you can shake hands with guests of the hotel next to PC when you are standing on the balcony...... Breakfast was fine, enough to choose. On the other hand, we had to listen to a disco/party untill 2 h at night which was quite irritating

Room Tip: rooms on the south have a view on the castle

We stayed for 4 nights on our way back to Barcelona and chose this hotel due to price, location, facilities and value for money.

We were able to check-in a little earlier than their time, nice touch after a long drive. The hotel is located right opposite the main beach and a mere 5 minute walk t the old town.

We had opted for the B&B options and chose a full sea view room - great decision! Room 109 has an amazing sun deck (huge) and looks out to the sea and the castle- yes the photo's on the website are 100% genuine and accurate.

The room was well equipped, the bed super comfy, the bathroom modern and with all the usual amenities. Shower was modern and with great water pressure.

The hotel facilities include a sauna, Turkish bath and a spa- all well maintained and relatively new.

Breakfast was extensive, well presented and delicious. price was very reasonable as an add-on. On our last day we were leaving at 7am, breakfast is not open until 8am, but they let us in early so we could have something to eat before our drive to Barcelona- very kind and a nice touch that further reinforced our positive view of the hotel.

We had an issue with a parking ticket on our first day and the hotel was very helpful in sorting it out- BEWARE if you park opposite by the beach you must pay- the fine is EUR80, reduced to EUR40 if you pay within 20 days. BUT what the locals know is if you go back within 1 hour of the ticket being issued then you can annul the fine by paying for a full days parking (EUR6.15 from memory). Without the hotels assistance we would not have known this.

Parking is available opposite the hotel (underground) EUR12 for first day, 10 for second and reduces to EUR8 I think for the fourth day.

The bar at the hotel is very reasonably priced (EUR2 for a beer), the outdoor pool is not heated (but it is Spain and even in April was not too cold).

One word of caution, in the middle of summer I can imagine the noise outside could be an issue for light sleepers (in the full sea view rooms). Further back from the road may be quieter- but it is a balance of views verses potential for noise. The rooms are double glazed.

We would love to stay here again and would not hesitate to return- great hotel, great staff, amazing views and location.

Room Tip: Refer to review about mid summer and front facing rooms

For us it was a choice between the PortoCristo and the Peniscola Palace hotels. Both are 4 star and get consistently good reviews. We were happy with the PortoCristo and a definite advantage is its very close proximity to the old quarter of Peniscola. The Palace hotel is about 1km further out which is a significant extra walk if you have young children! The Porto Cristo has a lovely outdoor bar area plus swimming pool and is just across from the beach. It is a 5 minute walk to get to the old quarter. If you need a travel cot, make that very clear when you book. We did but were first given a fold down bed. The hotel provided a travel cot as soon as we queried it! Rooms are on the small side but adequate. We also were given an upgrade to a side sea view. All in all, an enjoyable one night change of scene with our 16 month old. Also can recommend the Xurros restaurant about 10mn walk away.
