This resort was great. It is just steps to the beautiful beach. Every room has a balcony that has a view of the water. We were placed near the back of the hotel on the south eats end which gave us a view of the castle on the peninsula. The beds were very comfortable which was a nice surprise. We did not eat at the buffet. It was very expensive, we found great meals up and down the beach walk every evening. Try the place just outside the pool gates to the north. Great meals and the owner speaks several languages. We paid to park below the hotel, it was worth not having to find street parking. Visit the castle and shop on the way back down!

located at the north end of Peniscola. We were glad we had a car even though the daily parking is pricey. Restaurant is is expensive and only buffet available. I wanted just a bowl of soup and the waiter could not figure out how to charge for that so we went off property. Very few speak English.

Just be aware it is 6 km from the town, there is a bus every 2/2 hour, which from Peniscola the last is at 11pm. The hotel is very nice, but they recommend you do not drink the water from the hotel, hyperchlorinated.

We stayed here for four days at the end of February. As we rather expected, the hotel was not running "on all cylinders", with much of the bars and restaurants closed down.
We went into a buffet restaurant the first night, as it was the only food being served, and it was rather underwhelming, with the usual buffet problem of not very warm food (although a microwave was available to reheat) and at 25 Euros each expensive for what it was.
The following two evenings the Italian Trattoria was open, and we found this to be much better. Although the menu was somewhat restricted, the food was freshly prepared, and of a good quality. The waiter was very good, and helpful in advising us as to the food and wine. To add to its attraction, it was much cheaper than the Buffet!
The last night, we ate in our room, with food and drink bought locally, as their did not seem to be any restaurants open in the locality.
The breakfasts, also served in a Buffet, were excellent, with a good variety of food.

We has a suite of rooms, which it would be difficult to fault, with excellent facilities and spotlessly clean. There was redecoration of rooms going on in our corridor, and it is probable the ours had been redecorated recently..

The staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful, even though few spoke English - just like in the 60's!

We would certainly return again, if in the area, but I imagine it would be frenetic in the height of summer, when the hotel population rise to about 2,000, we were told. The only thing stopping us giving it five stars rating was the lack of choice for food on the weekday evenings.

Room Tip: Upper rooms have, not surprisingly, the better views.
