“Shrine of Valor”

Reviewed 11 July 2017

This shrine commemorates the bravery, courage and sacrifices of Filipino & American soldiers when the Japanese invaded the Philippines during World War II.
The shrine is 302ft high memorial cross, made of steel, concrete & marble. An elevator and a view deck at the arms of the cross where you can see entire Bataan.
This is a perfect place where you can connect with the past or appreciate nature.

This place houses some relics of the Bataan Battle. The stronghold that fell after 3 months of holding down their grounds.
The museum holds some information of how the battle went about.
Its also recommended to visit Corregidor so that you can know more about the history of Battles in and around the Philippines and their road to independence.

This place has a wealth history to share. It's very scenic and has a an excellent access road to the shrine. I suppose they could have done a better job in maintaining the place. The museum inside have nice photos , although not that much. the letters written by generals during the war surrendering to the Japanese is quite surreal. I just hope that elevator inside cross monument will be fixed sooner. Highly recommended...for overnight accommodations, Balanga does have hotels, but if you're looking for a resort-type of accommodation, suggestion is to go to bagac.

We brought our client here who was on a short business trip here since it is relatively close to clark/angeles city (1hr by private car), and the expectations we set were relatively low so it exceeded all of that. The museum was educational and chilling, the hike up the actual cross was fun, the view deck at the foot of the cross, pillars and all that stuff was great. Good enough to spend at least 2hrs of your time. The only down side is that the elevator that you use to get inside the actual cross is not working at the time of our visit, not sure if it still does since there were chains on it. So i say lower your expectations then be surprised.
