Hotel Vela is clean and in an excellent position. It overlooks a new public garden area with fountains and flower beds, in the centre in Icmeler. The staff are helpful, especially the owner who loves to chat and see what you think of his hotel! Lovely big pool but not much room to walk around it! My only complaint was the food. We were the first guests to arrive so perhaps the kitchen wasnt in ful swing- but there wasnt much choice, especially if you wanted a hot meal. There were only 4 or 5 turins for hot food and 2-3 of those were usually chips, rice and veg which left the other 2 turins for your meat or fish dishes. but we arent fussy eaters so it was ok. For first time visitors to Icmeler I would add that although its a lovely place, you can only travel or walk (2 hrs slowly) into Mamaris. The beaches arnt brillaint as it isnt sand but fine shingle. I can however recommend the Stella show on the seafront, which we saw twice. Also be aware that our transfer took us over 3 hours on the coach going and 2 hours on our return.

lovely immaculate hotel. rooms cleaned daily.Very helpful staff. Manager concerned about every one being comfortable and would go out of his way to ensure that.Enjoyed the banter with martin the barman.Ideal location as central to all amenities. We plan to stay there again in September.

Room Tip: room facing the fountains at front are quieter at night

Just booked my third trip to the Vela. The hotel was taken over by new management, summer of 2011. They have done a fantastic job, overseeing a total refurbishment. There is a fabulous large pool & poolside bar. A great Pool bar and stunning cafe bar at side of hotel. All areas of the hotel are kept spotlessly clean by wonderful staff who cannot do enough for you. The hotel is in a very central location only a gentle five minute stroll to the beautiful sandy beach and close to lots of restaurants should you wish to eat out. The food is of a good standard and plentiful in hotel. You will never starve! Finally... The management team have worked very hard to ensure that their guests enjoy their stay at the hotel and are very open to any constructive criticism or complaints and will take action accordingly. If your reading this & other reviews thinking should I book this hotel? Stop thinking about it & DO IT... You will love it. Enjoy!!!!

Myself and my sister have just come back from a week at the Vela hotel. Our time there was great, all the staff were very nice and as helpful as could be, it was all made even beter by martin the bar man who some say is grumpy! he is a star honest! He made everyone who was there our weeks holiday and have said they will come back next year just to see him, so to all the moaners maybe you should look at your own manners before downing others, i seen the way he was asked for drinks, not nice.
The hotel itself was spotless, clean room every day and clean towels, you cant ask for anymore really.
The food could improve, but you wouldnt starve.
Great holiday, Great hotel, Great staff!!!
So i would defo go back, you should try it out.
