My friends and I have just finished a 3 night stay at this hotel and would happily recommend it to anybody. The staff were freindly and helpful, the location is perfect and the ski locker is in a perfect position. We finished skiing walked up a few steps the look the lift down to the lockers. We had removed our skis and boots and had them locked away within minutes of finishing skiing. I cannot think why anybody would want to stay anywhere else. Would be go back? Just try and stop us

My family stayed in this hotel for one night whilst on a short ski-ing trip. We had a three person room which was totally adequate for our needs. It was clean and confortable with a lovely view. The location is great, very close to the main lifts to the slopes and close to numerous restaurants.

We found all staff to be pleasant, especially the reception staff. Breakfast was more than adequate. The public areas are very comfortable. We would definitely return to this hotel.

We found this hotel to be a beautiful hotel with stunning views and excellent location. The meals were very good and the hotel was very clean too. The only sore point is that the accomodation is expensive despite it being a 3 star hotel - however, which other good hotel in the same location would you find cheap in Sierra Nevada??

Having read the previous reviews of this hotel, we were looking forward to an enjoyable stay, and were not disappointed. Rooms modest in size but well-equipped and very clean. Lovely views of the mountains. Excellent location and very easy to get to from the car park. The restaurant was very good - attentive service, huge choice of food, mos 564 tly very well-prepared. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, too. Good (free) wi-fi facilities, but only in one small area outside the cafeteria. Bad points? Some minor criticisms of an otherwise excellent hotel: the receptionist that booked us in was almost unintelligible in either English or Spanish! Friendly, though. Why are the Spanish seemingly unable to keep food hot effectively, or to serve it on hot plates? And I do wish that hotels would use thermostatic shower valves. We had no problems here, but I was always a little nervous of the guy in the next room flushing the loo and scalding me to death, as the hot water was very hot! Would definitely go back again.

We loved this hotel at Sierra Nevada! The staff is very nice and helpful, and even if you don’t know a word in Spanish, they will try talking to you, in English, French and even a little bit of Portuguese…
The rooms aren’t big and the tv is really tiny, but we were there for skiing!!
You may enter to the hotel by the Parking at level -2 (we stayed 5 days and we payed 70€) or by the main hall at level 0 (there’s almost no place to park in Sierra Nevada, so you have to park your car at the parking area at level -2). All the rooms are above the hall (level -1, -2,-3 and -4).
Although the hotel is near Pradollano (the main square where there are many restaurants, ski stores, supermarkets, etc..), the hotel area is quite peaceful.
At the hotel you can buy your “forfeits”, escape to the enormous queues that are usually at the official “forfeits” store, and go directly to the mountain. If you want a place to put your ski/snowboard stuff you can ask at the reception desk for the keys to the ski lockers.
The ski lockers are at level -2. You have to leave the hotel at level -2 and walk a little bit, until the end of the park. Near the paper recycling zone, and near the “Telecabina Hotel” exit, you’ll found the ski lockers. They have a great location, because you don’t have to walk too much with your ski/snowboard material… you can end your ski day, enter in the elevator and there they are: the ski lockers!
At the hotel, there’s also an internet spot, a bar and a game room near the restaurant. Parents found it quite nice, because they can finish their dinner quietly while their kids are playing with other children at the game room. Many families were staying at this hotel, so at dinner time, in the game room, we found almost 20 children playing and amusing themselves.
The restaurant open’s at 8:00 for breakfast and at 20:00 for dinning. We always arrived early, before all families and before all seats by the window were taken. Dining near the window with a mountain sunset at the window is really nice!!!
That wasn’t a problem for us, but if you don’t like noise at meals, this hotel would not be good for you, because there are big families, and many groups of friends that make your meals not so quiet.
We loved the food!!There’s a great variety that we haven’t found in some 4stars hotels!
At dinner, there’s a man that grills the meat that you want. We never had the same dinner twice! In 5 days we have eaten smoked salmon, seafood, all kinds of meat (even duck!), cold salads, cheese, roast beef, pasta, pizza, a great variety of deserts and fruit (grapes, strawberries, pineapples, mangos, oranges, kiwis, apples, etc..)For those who don’t like to peel their fruit, there were also canned fruits!
If you aren’t a winter sports person, Sierra Nevada hasn’t got much to offer you. It’s a small and cozy place, with many ski stores, nice for who likes ski, snowboard and ice skating. At night you’ll have a few bar’s open for who wants to have a drink.

Just came back from a three day break. In fact, three days was just about right as another day and we would have been bored.

The hotel was very well situated, probably the best in the town - close to everything. Mind you, apart from skiing, eating and romancing, there is very little else to do.

The rooms were OK, but a little dated. The tiny little portable TV with only a few channels was crap`in these days of LCD and satellite. No coffee making facilities and the fridge did not work. We had a reasonable view on floor -2 and it was very convenient to the car park (which cost us 45 euro).

The breakfast buffet was very good with a good choice of fruit, cereal, fresh meats and cheese, egg and bacon etc.. A better quality of coffee would be a good idea though.

The dinner buffet was also good, but after three days I felt it was getting a little samey; time for B and B only and search out a restaurant. Good house wines though.

Excellent, friendly service from everyone. No language problems if you don´t speak Spanish.

A bit pricey for the facilities available but they have a captive market, so you pay or don´t going skiing in the Sierra Nevada!

We enjoyed our stay there very much, but not being a dedicated skier I would not rush back to the resort. If you love skiing though, and want to visit the Sierra Nevada, this is the best hotel in the area, in my opinion.

The WiFi was crap - it only works in one area of the bar - not in the rooms.

We stayed in the Hotel Ziryab for 4 nights in late January 2009.
It proved a very satisfying experience. The hotel is easy to find, and you can access it directly from the carpark. It was out first visit to Sierra Nevada, and the other reviews were very helpful. We had half board in the hotel, and arrived just in time for dinner on the first night, If I had a criticism, it would be that the dinners are all self-service, which by night 4 became a bit of a task. The food itself was fine, but the idea of a buffet each night just does not appeal. The rooms had everything you could need , and the staff were extremely helpful. You walk out the main door of the hotel into the town hub of the resort. There are loads of rental shops. We used the nearest, and I think the cheapest ( Patagonia), which was fine. You can use the lockers from the hotel, which are literally at the bottom of the gondola . You take the lift down 2 flights, and leave your gear, and then back up the lift to the resort, and your apres ski.
The resort is suitable for beginners and intermediates. The blue and red runs are all easy. We had no problem with queues, but at the weekend the 'family lifts' at the top of the gondola were very busy. You can divert to another part of the mountain to avoid these queues, but if you have children, this could be a problem.
The snow conditions, and the upkeep of the resort was top class. We will be back !
