My wife and I just completed a 2 week circumnavigation of Puerto Rico by bicycle in January, 2014. We spend a night at the La Llave Guest House, and were warmly welcomed by Luis and his wife. We stayed in a variety of accommodations while touring--in general there is not much in the way of reasonable places in Puerto Rico [one night we were even hosted by the Civil Defense Office--as there was no place in Humacao, a city of 60 thousand!]
This guest house was a godsend at the end of a long day of cycling. The price--at under $40--was a relief to us. The room was clean, the air conditioning worked, the bed was comfortable, and there was a Chinese Restaurant downstairs that served a dinner large enough to provide breakfast in the morning.
We looked into the Costa Dorada Hotel down the hill, but there didn't appear to be any guests there [and this was high season!], and we didn't want to pay $100+ for a night's sleep. The La Llave Guest house provided the respite we needed at a very reasonable rate.
