“What A Place Of History!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2012

This is an amazing place. I grew up in New Bedford, Massachusetts...but had never visited here until I came back years later for a visit. Now I visit everytime. Not only is the Civil War era coastal defense fort spectacular, but there is also a wonderful park and a military museum overflowing with excellent displays. Pets can play near the fort and people can picnic and jog. My two pet rabbits love it! Parking is very convenient and there are no entry fees. What an amazing place! Definately worth a visit and many repeat ones to follow. Two thumbs up!!

great spot for walkers or kite flying, small play ground and a few fort caves to explore. Check out Military Museum that is free.

“Excellent military museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2012

We visited the military museum at the Fort Taber park. The museum is full of military information and items from all the wars. The museum features local people from the new bedford area. There is no cost, ample parking and clean rest rooms. A great place to visit.

“History on the Waterfront”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2012

Fort Tabor Park provides a historical venue with the Atlantic Ocean as backdrop. Free and open to the public visitors can walk or run on the paved walkway that surrounds the park, visit the military history museum, use the playground, or wade into the saltwater surf in the summer months. The fort itself was started by a young military engineer named Robert E. Lee and is the site where formal meeting etiquette, known as 'Robert's Rules of Order', were written. Free parking is available as well.

“Fort Tabor Park, New Bedford, MA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2009

If you are already visiting the New Bedford Whaling Museum or the New Bedford Art Museum, check out Fort Tabor Park. We went in March, but enjoyed walking around the Fort and viewing the monuments and World War II tank. It has a museum and a seasonal snack-bar.

I wouldn't visit if this is the only thing I was coming to see, but if in the area for other interests, it is worth a quick visit.
