This place is located in a quiet neighborhood but has a good friendly ambiance. We went there for a meeting with my husband's school friends from Azores, Portugal. They had good Portuguese food and good wine.

The place is small but not crowded. Heading east on Cove Rd. it is on the left (attached to a bank. The staff is very friendly. A full bar is offered and the menu has quite a few surprises. Check out the menu on-line to see if there is something you just can't resist. I said this was moderately priced but the fish and chips was just $10 and the lobster casserole was $23 and I'm not sure what the octopus cost, If this makes your juices start to flow then you need to give this place a try. You may decide to add it to your "regulars" list.

Had lunch at Inner Bay Cafe with a group of colleagues while visiting New Bedford for a day. Overall, we found the restaurant to be a nice friendly family restaurant offering large portions of good food.
The restaurant offers a range of dishes, some of the very Portuguese and others very international. The group ended up trying quite a few different things, including shrimps Mozambique, mixed seafood platters, bacahlau and more. Some of the dishes were fantastic - very unique and flavorful. Others were a bit bland and rather mediocre. The pattern seemed to be that the restaurant does Portuguese specialties very well but does not do the more standard things as well. So, as is often the case, the best approach is to go for the unique specialties. It is also worth noting that the portions are quite generous.
The restaurant interior is quintessential small family restaurant - entry way where people wait for take-away, a full bar with coffee machine and then a smallish dining area with booths and tables, filled with locals who talk loudly and clearly know each other and the owners/staff. A very friendly family place.
The service was fine.

We stopped for dinner on an "AHA" night. Even on a Thursday, about half the tables well in use. We, outsiders from Fall River, noticed that most of the patrons were familiar to each other and with the staff. For us, a comfortable feeling. The "dinner specials" were about as numerous as the entrees offered on the menu. Prices for entrees seemed really low. Like $ 14.00 - 16. I think I recall the "Fish & Chips" as $ 10.00. Portions were just about right. On the heavy light side from your Euro skimpy plate and well below the belly-busters on offer at your typical chain feed trough.
