Was easy to book even though there were 15 of us, it was easy as, clean rooms, short stroll for toilet & shower, kitchen had good cooking facilities, games room roomy with books & TV. Steps into water or you could walk few minutes to sandy beach for relaxing swim in clear water. All in all we were very impressed & will certainly return

Room Tip: Rooms have sea views & rooms with hill views

The waterline makes this camping ground attractive to young families (safe for kids). It is a tidal beach front but there are other activities around the area e.g. goat island, kayaking etc.

The Camping ground itself is very well managed - clean & tidy. Great facilities.

I would recommend this camp site to all families.

This was the first time we stayed here. Its a lovely spot with a really nice view. We stayed on the waterfront campsite and the kids loved exploring the rocks and sand once the tide was out. The kitchen and bathroom facilities are super clean and well looked after. The only thing I would take note on is the lights in the shower blocks do go off if the sensor hasn't been activated and you have a 2 token shower. The best part for the kids would probably be the awesome go karts that they can race around the site. The staff were amazing and super friendly. Would come back again

We have been staying in and around the Leigh area for many years - we love it up there - but this was the first time we have stayed at Whangateau Holiday Park. We were totally impressed and will be back - in fact we have already booked a week in January and invited other family to join us! The facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen - simply spotless. The 4 wheel bikes for kids were a great hit, as was the giant chess set and playground. There's a big covered outdoor area, lounge, bbq's, and outdoor cookers. And you can camp right next to the water! We have hired one of the on-site caravans for the grandparents in January and booked the campsite right next door for us. The location is also perfect for Leigh and the Sawmill, Matakana, all the wineries, and Pakiri and Tauwharanui are both easy to get to. Perfect! Can't wait for the summer to come back

We stayed on an unpowered campsite. We had an amazing view and none of the campsites are far from the facilities. Facilities were clean; having multiple mini kitchens was great as you weren't getting in everyone's way. The only annoying thing were the showers/toilets which were in separate spots and the showers had nowhere to put anything you wanted to keep dry (eg. your clothes) just a hook on the back of the door and a mini shelf for toiletries. A minor thing but frustrating. Also this is the only park I've stayed in where you had to pay for shower use. When already paying $20 pp per night for an unpowered site I think this is unnecessary.
Overall a great experience as it is very close to Goat Island and Sawmill brewery.

Room Tip: Ask for one as close to the water as possible.

Hi Elsie, Thank you for your review of our park. All our campsites are powered so you paid $20 pp for a powered site. We are hoping to get some upgrades done on our shower block this winter so we will take your comments on board. We hope you will visit us again on your next holiday. Many thanks.
