“DISGUSTINGLY FILTHY DUMP!”
Reviewed 27 August 2010

Unless you don't care about stains on your sheets, bedspreads that haven't been washed, towels that are dirty, carpets that you would not walk in you bare feet, showers that fill with grey water and no room service, no fresh (dirty) towels brought to your room and nobody at the front desk that gives a damn about the crappy conditions or service at Homestead. I'm a college parent and plan to travel to SLC for the next 4 years but Homestead won't ever get my business again.

The stay at Homestead was above average considering the price we paid for it.

The room, bathroom and kitchen were generally clean and the service was awesome! The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. She came down to our room to provide us with towels when we asked for it. (contrasting this to other similar inns that we have stayed whereby you have to bring the towels down to the receptionist)

Despite the flat fee of $5 to pay for using the wifi (regardless of the number of nights), we enjoyed the 2 nights that we spent at the inn! I would definitely go back if i visit Salt lake city again!

When we checked in the desk clerk asked if we wanted shampoo. What's that about? There was one tiny bar of soap in the room. We have traveled, on a budget, to europe and not stayed in this poor of a property. The first thing we saw when we went out for some air was a drug deal right behind the hotel, so not such a great neighborhood! The entire place was dirty. The elevator smelled bad, there was no mattress pad on the bed and the room was less than sanitary. The good news is our car was not broken into and we only had one night.

Pros: it is located next to a greenbelt/park, the rates were inexpensive & it is convenient for driving places (however, it is some distance from downtown). Cons: the "queen" sized bed is more like a double, it isn't the cleanest or most secure place and very few amenities. Nothing special.

My husband & I have stayed in SLC many times on our way to the Southwest. Without exception the places we'd stayed were trashed, perhaps because there are many people making the trip to the Temple and the rooms get a lot of use year round. In any case, I was ready for another bad SLC motel experience and was very pleasantly surprised. Our room was on the top floor on a side facing a creek. It was very quiet and peaceful. Since we have a special diet, we appreciated the kitchenette which had everything we needed. The staff were very nice. It was also very reasonably priced. The only downside was that Internet isn't free (there's a one-time $5 fee). Now that we've finally found a decent place to stay in SLC, we'll definitely be back to this hotel.

This is much like a Motel 6 with a kitchen. Thin towels and thin walls. If you are a light sleeper ask for top floor or the noise of walking around from the room above will surely wake you up. The location is convenient to highways, downtown, and 30 minutes to most ski resorts. Key for us was proximity to family. If it were not for the location I would have given only 2 stars. The rates are very reasonable, but not sure it is worth it. We will likely stay elsewhere next year as we decided we didnt need the kitchenette and would rather have a nice room. The folks working the front desk were always very nice and helpful.

We come to Salt Lake City 8 or 9 times a year and we are so glad to have found the Homestead Suites in Sugar House! It's within walking distance of stores and restaurants including Lone Star, Barnes & Noble (with a Starbucks inside!), Whole Foods, Old Navy, Rubio's, KFC, Carl's Jr., etc. I have to have my tea first thing in the morning, and we need to store food for potlucks we attend while there, so we love having the kitchenette. Internet access is available in each room for an extremely reasonable price. The front desk staff is great, and the view out the back is gorgeous at every time of year. Thanks, Homestead!
