Second leg of the tour is center hill mansion built by the bolling family. One of the interesting facts is that the pbs series mercy street was filmed here.
The view out the front door shows the landscape of Petersburg and it’s beautiful this time of year with the changing colors of trees.

A local told me to visit this place so I did. The tour was very great. You get a detailed history of the place. It is worth seeing. The management of the place has changed hands many times so finding information on hours may be tricky.

Worth the time to tour...excellent with the right tour guide! If you are interested in the Civil War, this is a great place to visit to see how the rich were different.

As some have already stated, this home seems to be closed permanently. However, when it was "open," each time I tried to see the mansion it was closed. From the outside it was obvious that there was little or no money going into upkeep that would have been able to stop the decay that was taking place all around. Visible surfaces were eroding and looking very unpleasant. It seems doubtful that the downhill slide will stop, and I would guess that within the next 15 years a low income housing project will take its place.

So wanted to see this! But we were in Petersburg in June 2017 and because the city is in a financial crisis, the tourism office is closed. Some attractions (Blandford Church) are being staffed by volunteers but so far this one is not.
