Please understand, we are very picky when discussing cleanliness of rentals... The areas that matter most: the bed, bathrooms, and kitchen were adequately clean. The cabin itself is in need of some TLC, understandably so, considering its age. The windows need washing, there were cobwebs in places (we cleaned most out), and the walkways were more trails than walkways. We also washed out the trash can.
An important feature for us, was the hot tub. The lid is waterlogged, and very heavy, and actually broke its mounts while we were in the tub. We reported this, and was told a new one is on order. Lightning in the cabin is muted, but we hike a lot, so were in bed around dusk, and up at dawn anyway. There could be a few more coffee cups as well. DO NOT MICROWAVE THE CHICKEN CUPS, THEY GET FIRE HOT!!
We are daily hikers, and this cabin met our needs.
We have enjoyed our stay at the rose den cabin. It was very clean when we arrived. The view from the window of longs peak is amazing. The biggest negative is the walk from where you park, it is a rocky pathway. This is the reason for giving it a 4 star rating. I asked my wife if we would come again and the rocky path was enough to say no, even with the view of the mountain we so enjoyed. It rained today and it made the path a little muddy. I encourage the owners to build a safer walk way.
Great location right near downtown and the Beaver Meadows entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We loved the hot tub (note that it is shared with one other cabin) just a little ways from the cabin. Well stocked kitchen and enough space for the four of us (2 adults and 2 teenagers) to be comfortable and still be together. Appreciated the separate vanity area so that more than one person could get ready at a time. Lovely porch overlooking Big Thompson River area. Great views of Long's Peak from the couch inside. The pictures of Rose Den in the past and the diaries of trips to the cabin in the 1900s were an interesting addition also. As other renters have mentioned the walk up is rocky and uneven but the lights do help if you return at night. We would have appreciated a more comfortable option for the porch seating; the bench was nice but slightly uncomfortable for extended sitting which we did most mornings to enjoy the sunrise and some tea. While there last week, a bear wandered up from the river and right next to the cabin before heading on up the hillside behind the cabin - unfortunately we found out after the fact (but fortunately we were inside and not meeting him in the dark!). We saw a mother and baby deer in the yard as well! It was a lovely stay and as always we enjoyed Estes Park!
Thank you, we enjoyed our stay. We love the history of the Rose Den. We discovered it after watching Ken Burn’s documentary on the National Parks. I was so curious to know what was original at the den and when things were added on. I assumed the circle window was original? The Dutch door seemed older as well? Just curious if you know where I can find out more about it? There was not too much available online. Thank you again, it was a really neat place to stay! It was also very comfortable, accommodating and close to downtown Estes but far enough away to feel like a private den in the woods.
The Rose Den is exactly what we expected. Great views and top of the mountain. Elk and Deer in the back yard and perfect views for star gazing. The walk up to the cabin is fun, multiple trails, just watch out for cactus. Great stay, cannot wait to come again.
Very Nice stay. Property was not as remote as I had hoped, but was -way- better than a lot of other properties we saw driving around. We had Elk and Deer coming off the hill and by our cabin both days. Hot tub under the stars...nice.
Convenient to town, but outside of it a bit.
Nice Stay. As advertised.
Enjoyed our stay here. Very cozy place although was a little disappointed with how dirty the windows were, especially the picture window overlooking the mountain. Did not distract from our stay though. Will definitely stay here again. Good communication with the owner and easy transition for our stay. I highly recommend staying here.
