“great deal”
Reviewed 26 May 2012

My hubby and I stayed here after getting a good deal for the lodge through livingsocial.com. We paid $149 for 2 nights which included a bottle of wine, ticket for buy one get one free wine tasting at a local winery plus a $25 gift certificate to be used on a $35 or more meal tab at the resort restuarant on the other end of town.
When I made the reservation I told the person that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary a little early in the year since this deal expired before our actual anniversary. Because I said it was for our anniversary the person upgraded our rooim to a room with a fireplace and balcony that had a view of the river. That was so awesome.
The room we had was very clean, had a wonderful king size bed that was so comfy.
I also liked the fact that there are free dvds to check out and view in your room as well as a good choice of channels on cable.
Breakfast was good. And the person careing for the breakfast room kept an eye on it and filled the supply up as it ran low.

This is a very beautiful, quiet place to stay.

What a great find this was! Felt so fortunate to secure Room 210 and be here before high season. It was quiet, peaceful, laid back, & relaxing. We had AMAZING elk sightings off our deck our first afternoon at the motel. LOVED the large fireplace. Went to sleep with a fire in the fireplace every night. Slept with the sliding glass door & windows open so we could hear the rushing water of Fall River and feel the cold air. No better way to sleep. Loved having the DVD player & sofa so we could sit & watch movies at night. Appreciated having a table & chairs & mini-fridge & microwave. We went to Safeway & picked up a few items so we could have dessert in the evenings and sandwich fixings for our hikes. Bruce was really friendly and helpful & gave us good advice about hiking to Gem Lake. Really appreciated the 2 dinner coupons. (We stayed 4 nights.) Both places were great dining finds. Totally enjoyed the hot tub. It was HOT and very relaxing. Continental breakfast was plenty to give us a good start to our hiking days. Loved the fact we were only a couple of blocks from downtown. So easy to walk and shop & not have to worry about parking. We fell in love with Estes Park & RMNP. We will be back in July and stay here at Murphy's River Lodge next time. Totally enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: Room 210 - King on the River with the Sleeper Sofa, corner room upstairs. Great views of elk on Fal...

There is no better place to stay for a Rocky Mountain vacation. The view of the mountains is unbeatable. The management and staff are friendly, helpful and always available. Elk and other wildlife are close-by almost daily; who needs to go to a zoo? We had a very spacious room with a comfortable outside deck overlooking a beautiful stream full of trout. Great breakfast with lots of options, swimming pool and hot tub, comfortable beds, clean bathroom and shower. Stay here if you want the most enjoyable stay you could possibly have.

My husband and I stayed here with our two little ones! We stayed in Room A above the office!! While we did not have a fireplace, we LOVED LOVED LOVED the space, especially the extra little room we were able to put the kids in so we could have some privacy. We loved seeing all the elk and wild life!, The community room was great and everything in Estes was in walking distance. We felt we were close to the city yet felt far away while at the lodge. Bruce and Loretta were GREAT..very friendly staff and a nice get away!..We WILL be back!
THANKS Murphy's River Lodge!!!

Hi ...i stayed here in May. They are super nice at the desk. The breakfast is a wide selection of donuts, bagels, boiled eggs, coffee, juice, muffins, toast, fruits, cliff bars, etc. It is very clean. The rooms are clean and the beds are new and very comfy. I recommend this place. If you can get a river room, but even if you can't you won't be disappointed here. I was lucky when the dump across the street that i had a groupon for and had to leave becuause the accomodations were run down and dirty, that they had one room left here...it was a divine intervention )

My boyfriend and I stayed Here for a couple of days! It was beautiful. It was frustrating though because they said the hot tub would be working but they filled it when we were there so it was too cold to use! Over all I really like it!

My family stayed in Murphy's in spring of 2012, and after reading the reviews on tripadvisor I was looking forward to the stay. The room we were put in looked over a dumpy building that was falling apart. Is was large, but there was no fireplace.I think you need a room with a king bed to get that. While the room was in okay condition I would hardly call it fancy or luxurious. Other than the fact that it was very clean it wasn't really any better or worse than your average comfort inn. Also worth noting is the fact that our TV didn't work properly. It seems like the lodging experience is vastly inferior if you aren't in the building near the creek.
The thing that I am really marking down Murphy's on was the breakfast. I noticed the first day of our stay that the yogurt they were serving was out of date by several weeks. Were they *that* negligent or was management just trying to save a few bucks by serving out of date food? I suspect the latter. On the second day of our stay I tried one of the slices of a clementine that my daughter was eating. It tasted off -- not rotten but completely devoice of any moisture-- so I immediately spit it out and threw her remaining pieces in the trash. Alas, it was took late. The fruit was so bad that she vomited on the way back to our room. After that we went out to a restaurant in town that doesn't serve expired dairy and spoiled fruit.

Room Tip: Book a room backing to the creek.

I first would like to reply regarding your breakfast issues. We purchase fresh fruit twice a week from the local grocery store. We do not peel each fruit to insure its condition. When anyone buys a bag of fresh fruit there is always the possibility of getting the occasional piece that needs to be thrown away. If we see damaged fruit we always will discard! The yogurt is delivered weekly from a restaurant supply company and if you did find one that was old all you would have to do is just give it to Bruce our manager and he would be more than happy to replace it for you. Bruce really takes a lot of pride in our Breakfast and is in the community room every morning visiting with our guests.
Regarding the TV --If the previous guest had messed with TV and picture was fuzzy we have no way of knowing unless the next guest tells us and again we will fix it immediately.
. Our goal is to be a clean, friendly, comfortable place where you know that you will have high quality beds, great location, free wifi, free breakfast and be affordable. If you want luxurious perhaps you should be staying in a 5 star hotel in Vail or Aspen and pay $300-$500 a night instead of choosing our $99-$130 non river room at our newly remodeled Mountain Lodge.
