“A wonderful place to free the imagination”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

Small, intimate and packed with wonderful things to help free the imagination and inspire creativity. Offering small classes right in the galleries, and creative events, too, utilizing the large central gallery modeled after the Grand Gallery of the Louvre. This is a place I come to again and again on my lunch hour to savor and consume the ideas hanging on wall after wall.

“Nice afternoon”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

We visited the museum during a RISD alumni art bazaar. It was beautiful and filled with different types of art from various eras. It was an interesting way to spend an hour while on the east side of Providence.

“A lot of good stuff here”
Reviewed 16 February 2012

Really enjoyed this museum. I will say I enjoyed the 20th-21st century exhibits better than the classic ones. First off because from a place like RISD I would expect more modern stuff, and just because the modern exhibits were more thought-provoking -- lots here about the art of everyday life (furniture, fashion, etc). Current student exhibits were disappointing. On Sunday morning, they institute a pay-as-you-wish policy which is nice.

“I can't believe that Little Old Rhode Island has this lovely museum”
Reviewed 11 February 2012

I have visited London, Boston, Paris, Rome, and New York. This may not be the Metropolitan
or the Louvre, but it has a lovely colection of art that compares to the best museums.

If you arrive on Sunday morning it is free.

It is a place I like to visit once in a while just to see some familiar pieces.
