Enjoyed shopping for sauces got bolognese sauce and vodka sauce. Then went over to the pasta and ravioli refrigerator and got lemon zest ravioli, 3 cheese pasta and the cold cuts are divine. The strong scent of the provolone and the thinly sliced genoa salami make great sandwiches. I even bought some stuffed hot peppers. Yummy fresh food.

I love to grab a sandwich here for lunch. Venda is also our go to for catered dinners. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

It's a deli, a gourmet food shop, a kitchen store, market and wine bar all rolled into one. This is an awesome spot to have lunch, get a glass of wine of pick up some specialty foods.

As a first generation Italian, I am well educated in those Italian delicacies that we all treasure. Fine Italian cold cuts, imported cheeses, olives, anchovies, freshly cut meats and so many other goodies that I cut my teeth on in childhood.
How nice to rediscover all of this on a golden autumn afternoon at Venda Ravioli on Atwell's Ave in Providence. Of course I have been there before, but it's been awhile. When that front door opens and the smells of a true Italian groceria hit you full on, your childhood memories return in full force.
Venda offers sumptuous pre-prepared delicacies from which to choose in glass enclosed cases that surround the entire store. Select among the many offerings for a delicious lunch or dinner meal to eat there or to have packaged to go. Hot and cold panini can be had as well.
That glass case continues to include a myriad of imported and domestic cold cuts, dried salamis followed by the freshly prepared roasts and ground meats and sausages section with experienced butchers behind the counters to lend not only their expertise, but recipes to boot!
Next in the case comes all the olive varieties, anchovy, artichokes and other antipasti regulars. Last but not least, the last case hold a least 100 different cheeses and accompaniments. I settled for a Humbolt goat cheese paired with a jar of L'Epicurien Confit of figs & balsamic vinegar (from France) with some very thin rice crackers on the recommendation of the knowledgeable staff. OUTSTANDING!
The side aisles are stocked with so many Italian imports --jarred filet of tuna, Savorini cookies, Aborio & Caranoli rices, butter from Parma just to name a few. Certainly makes for difficult choices to make.
And then~~ there's the ravioli! Lobster, pumpkin, spinach, rabi & cheese & others too numerous to mention along with the prepared sauces to go with them.
Lastly, do not, I repeat DO NOT forget to buy a loaf or 2 of their outstanding Italian bread at checkout. With the crispiest of crusts and fluffy interior, it's the perfect compliment to whatever you have in your check out basket!
Buon appetito!
