“What a historical view.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

The drive into the western monument is breathtaking. And to know it was where the first settlers crossed into the area is magical.

“Sunset venue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

People come to watch the sunset. Beautiful scenery. Very steep descent with sudden drop off, so drive carefully; fatal accidents do occur here.

Such breathtaking views in all directions! We've visited it many times as we wintered in Tucson over 15 years.

“Scenic and enjoyable drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

A very scenic and enjoyable drive with lots of pull-outs for viewing stops. The many bicyclists along the way can be a bit of a problem as there is no shoulder, however no one should be in a hurry on this drive anyway. All the pull-outs offer hiking to wonder the desert. There are a couple picnic areas but be warned, the brown mountain picnic site has no bathroom. The other picnic area (can't remember the name, closest to the living desert museum) has water and bathrooms. Also a nice campground with spacious sites found on Kinney Road. Wasn't there for a sunset but we hear it's spectacular.

This is our favorite place to be in Tucson. It is an area of stunning views, and peace and harmony.
