Owner description: A wide range of plants from Texas and around the world spread out over 33 acres.
Reviewed 29 March 2012

It was such a blessing to see so many flowers and trees in leaf coming from chilly or down-right cold Canada. We had to laugh at the parsley, swiss chard and cabbages growing in the flower beds. Really added to the composition of plants. There are so many pathways and different areas to see and so many pictures to take. The little cafe at the entrance serves great food but check the hours they are open.

We enjoyed the gardens, especially the areas that were grown and landscaped to educate the visitor on the different regions of Texas. It was very nice to relax and casually wander around such a beautiful place.

The Botanical Gardens are a feast for your eyes. The grounds are spectacular. The glass pyramids with different environments are so unique. The vegetable gardens are amazing. The examples of urban gardening are inspiring. Do not miss see the Botanical Gardens. They also have restaurant open for lunch that is very nice.

Wear your sneakers, bring a hat, & throw some water in your day pack. This is a fabulous place, very spread out, & you will want to see it all. There are benches & restrooms scattered all around so take your time & really enjoy the variety & colors & textures of all the flora & fauna here. Songbirds will accompany you everywhere you wander, it's magical. We didn't want to leave. Discount coupons can be found in some of the tourist brochures, plus there is a senior rate. There is a gift shop & restaurant, parking is free.

Like other botanical gardens we've seen across the USA, but this one has seperate areas for the Hill Country of Texas, dessert area of Texas and 2 others that are special! I was in a wheelchair this day and it has very good access.
