Last Saturday night, we took a road trip to San Antonio with some Austin friends to celebrate a bday. While at dinner, we asked our friends what was a "must do" culinary wise in the city. Since they had all lived in San Antonio prior, one of them recommended Feast. Her friend, who is their chef (Jared Smith) comes to meet us out and encourages us to try Feast for Sunday brunch. From the second we walked up to the restaurant, the dishes being carried out had YES written all over them. French toast. Pancakes. Egg dishes. And so forth. It was a tough decision, but we knew we had to have the mac n cheese based on our friend's advice. It was probably the best we have ever had. There was a nice bite from the chili peppers which were puréed into the cheese sauce. Gotta order that! The French toast was pillowy and covered with pistachios, butter, confectioners sugar and fresh raspberries. Heavenly. Eggs in Hell was my choice since a spicy tomato sauce and charred lemon polenta sounded right up my alley. Didn't regret it one bit!! The one thing we will say was that it all looked outstanding, and Chef Jared even came out to greet us despite being quite busy. We really enjoyed the ambience and the service as well, and will definitely return when we find ourselves in the river city!!
