Traveling as a family of three, we found the Drury Plaza to be a great home away from home during our recent trip to San Antonio. We arrived at the hotel from the airport pre-lunchtime and found that our room was not yet ready (which was expected since we arrived so early.). However, the front desk clerk kindly offered to store our luggage and then took our number to give us a call when our room was ready, so we ventured out to the riverwalk to enjoy an early lunch. During the time we were eating, our phone rang, and it was the hotel calling to let us know our room was ready. This great customer service was typical of our stay from beginning to end...All Drury employees were friendly, professional, and eager to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable.

Our room was a great two room suite with a nice living area and bedroom with two queen beds. We found the room to be clean, roomy and very comfortable for our three night visit to San Antonio. As stated in many other reviews, the hotel is located in a former bank building. Drury did a wonderful job of maintaining the integrity and beauty of the building when tranforming it into a hotel. The location was great...close enough to the heart of the riverwalk to be convenient but far enough away to be quiet and peacful. Tip...For those who choose to stay here, just take a right when you go out of the hotel at the riverwalk level. You will get to the riverwalk restaurants, shopping, etc. more quickly than you do when you take a left out of the hotel onto the riverwalk.

Special perks that make the Drury Plaza a great place to stay include the great breakfast and afternoon kickback. The food that was served at both of these amply met the needs of our family and enabled us to save money on food by only eating out at lunch. It was also nice to have access to fountain drinks and popcorn during the afternoon and evening. We never went hungry at all! Our son also enjoyed the great rooftop pool, and we enjoyed the great city view that it offered.

All in all, this was a great trip, and we would highly recommend that anyone who is planning a stay in San Antonio take advantage of the great accomodations offered by the Drury Plaza Hotel.

Room Tip: We requested a suite on a higher level floor away from the elevator and received it. The room was very quiet, and the view of the city from the numerous windows was awesome! The two room suite provides enough space that you never feel cramped when traveling with a family.

This review some folks may think I'm cheap but I try to bring up things that might be of concern for other people making reservations so if price isn't of concern for ya then pass this review by.
Let me start by saying this hotel has a nice history behind it and if ya like hotels that you can stay the night and also see a kinda of a museum of sorts this is it. Location it is on RiverWalk but I will say this hotel is a good distance from the Alamo and River Center mall, Tower of America, Alamo Dome so if that is a concern then stay elsewhere. That being said there is transportation..but hey thats why ya stay on RiverWALK. The breakfast is great lots of good tasting hot food and great staff to help. Now for the negative and it mainly deals with the charges and I understand fees need to be applied they don't need to be excessive. Valet there isn't any getting out of this you will Valet park at a rate of $19.00 a day will say the staff is great car came to us very promptly but I think a reasonable rate of $10 to $12 would be better. Here is where I want you to ask upon making reservations for the total charges (room, taxes thats State and Local) my room rate was $180 which I thought was very good for a nice hotel RiverWalk and I thought reasonable also......then I got the bill my room to include rate, tax, valet was.....ready $228 per night......ASK QUESTIONS!!!

Room Tip: I will say this If they give ya a room that is 2017 and all odd #'s ask for another room. The view was terrible.

An elevator ride down to the Riverwalk. An elevator ride to either of the two pools and whirlpool complexes. One of which is at the very top of the hotel overlooking San Antonio. Very good hot complimentary breakfast. Complimentary snacks at lunch time and complimentary snacks and drinks at Happy Hour.

Spent last weekend in San Antonio, a favorite place for a weekend. Traveled with a fairly large group, 200 or so. All adults, on a good day !
The service was great. Friendly but always professional. Desk staff to Valet, always seemed to be available. And inquiring about any needs, or just greeted with a smile.
Did I mention, this is a restored Bank ? Absolutley lovely , and with great photos. Roof top pool.
This Hotel does not have a Bar or Restaurant on site. However, does provide breakfast, and a Happy Hour, with drinks and bar-type food.
Will definitly plan on returning. On the River Walk, easy to walk to the ' action', but far enough from the craziness.

Room Tip: rooms in ' older' building, great. Rooms in newer, have balcony.

We were in San Antonio for a convention and spent our last 3 nights down on the Riverwalk. We booked a king room with a balcony. our room was on the 14th floor, in the San Fernando tower ( a bit tricky to find your way at first) and looked down on a plaza and the riverwalk. The room was hugh.....bedroom was seperate from living area and the living area had a sink, fridge, coffee maker and microwave, with a little table and chairs to eat at. The hotel had a "happy hour" with lots of food to choose from and you got 3 drinks. They also served a great hot breakfast in the morning. The hotel is an old bank and the main lobby is spectacular and the old vault is still in the basment. There was a great rooftop balcony on our tower where we could sit and visit and enjoy the veiws. location fantastic for everything downtown.

Room Tip: We paid a bit extra for the king suite with balcony and got a hugh room with fabulous veiw.
