This hotel is in the former Alamo National Bank building, and the Drury people have maintained much of the charm of the building. The staff are uniformly friendly and helpful, and the room was comfortable and had dashes of style usually lacking in chain hotels. The location is fine if the downtown area is your focus. The rooftop pool and hottubs are vertigo-inducing but pretty awesome all the same.
Suggestion - when ready to leave, call early to get your call pulled up. (You have to use the hotel's valet service if parking there...). Checking out at a conventional time means you'll compete with others in order to get your call. With that, when my car did arrive, the valet person was courteous and helpful in offering directions.
One slight negative to me - the hallways near the rooms are maintained with the original hard surface; they are not carpeted, and so hallways can be noisy at times. For us this was not a problem.
