Whether you are on your first trip to the City Different, or your tenth, this is a must stop. Doesn’t matter if it is summer, winter or whenever. It is the heart of this city.

There are incredible shops all around. The legendary Cafe on the Plaza serves delicious diner style food and the frito pie was invented at the Five and Dime.

Native Americans sell their magnificent jewelry and pottery near by. And there is a web cam of the Plaza so when you return home, you can see where you have been. When in Santa Fe, go!

So much fun to just relax on a bench in the beautiful sunshine and people watch until one of the many vendors wares catches your eye. There were also several street musicians to entertain you as you were deciding where to go next in this beautiful city.

Everyone will tell you to go to the Santa Fe Plaza and if visiting the area then you just have to do it so you can add it to your list. Seriously, the park itself is quite nice with plenty of trees, grassy areas and lots of seats. But Central Park it is not! It is a nice town park in the centre of town.

But shopping, especially for jewellery, is definitely aimed at the tourist. The shops have some really nice stuff for the rich and famous and the street vendors don't have anything really different from every where else that sells native jewellery. Restaurants are pretty much the same and The Plaza restaurant was a disappointment.

If you are going there by car, park in the government car park - corner Sandoval Street and W San Francisco Street which was reasonably priced. Outside parking is minimal, metered and the first thing we saw was the parking guy checking the meters and it was only 10am!

The plaza was amazing be prepared to take your time to get through all the shops and outdoor vendors.

Recommend that you don’t buy at the first shop; if you see something you like not the price and the shop - often times you can find something similar or the same for less money.

I would recommend a good 3 to 4 hours to really see everything.
