“The hotel is well located and nice - but the staff really makes the place.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Santa Fe for several days recently and really enjoyed the hotel for a variety of reasons.

In terms of the location, the hotel is a reasonable walk from the plaza and they provide a free car/shuttle service to and from locations within a mile of the property if you don't feel up to a stroll.

The lobby of the hotel is cozy and the rooms are comfortable, clean, up to date, and properly maintained. There is also an attached spa - if Charlie Sheen had only developed a hot stone massage habit instead of the other thing... just sayin'...

As nice as the hotel is, the staff was the real treat for us. Every single person working at the hotel was pleasant, friendly and helpful in a way that really made it feel like they were actively engaged in making sure their guests have a great stay in Santa Fe. In general, the folks in Santa Fe seem pretty nice - but the people at Hotel Santa Fe really stand out.

We would happily stay there again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.

Everything was absolutely perfect! We stayed in "The Haciendas" wing of the hotel. The room was beautiful and HUGE! Each room has a gas fireplace with a remote control (fun), beautiful furnishings and fabrics - and the staff refills a bowl of fresh fruit everyday! Everything they do, they do with the guests in mind. From the personalized and signed welcome card in your room on arrival, fresh fruit, locally made boxed chocolates on your bedside table, complimentary wine, beer and snacks for 3 hours (no rushing to make the happy hour!) in the lounge, the staff keeping the mesquite wood fire stoked in the lounge during happy hour, complimentary breakfast, personal butler service - Lubo was our butler and was a true "gift"! We live in Albuquerque and spent 3 days here as a mini-vacation over Spring Break with our daughter (10 years old) and it was like being a world away! The hotel is located about a block from the local Farmers Market (great fun and worth seeing on the weekends!) and fairly near the Plaza (six blocks). We booked our room on Priceline and will always go through the hotel from now on - the Priceline "Secret" price was the same as the hotel's published rate.....their prices are incredibly reasonable - particularly for what you receive in return! We will be returning many, many times in the future!

Room Tip: Stay in the "Haciendas" portion of the hotel!!

Hotel Santa Fe proved to be even better than we thought it would be. We had a small group of guests staying there for seven nights. Some of the participants had some medical issues, and all had a tough schedule to follow. The hotel made sure that everyone had what they needed, that everyone was comfortable and happy, and they did some things for me that went above and beyond the call of duty. They served a great breakfast as well. The hotel has lovely ambiance and is an unusual property in that the Native American culture of Santa Fe is beautifully represented. I brought some materials to the hotel one evening and asked the front desk if they could distribute them to our guests; they did so with a smile - and when I came in the front door, there was a young Native American man dressed in a beautiful deerskin jacket opening doors for people and wishing them a good evening. A delightful touch. We can't say enough about this great property - they did so many nice things for my group and were wonderful to work with. If you stay at Hotel Santa Fe, you will be treated like royalty and will have the perfect Santa Fe experience.

Stayed at the hacienda. Room was small but clean. Bed was comfortable. Butler service is a joke (just a glorified front desk attendant). Don't expect much with turndown service. They literally will make the bed leave the pillows a mess. Hotel is pretty noisy. Be careful, they charge a $15 daily resort fee for items that they tell you are free (breakfast, parking, shuttle, Internet, etc.). How can you say something is included but then charge for It? More like a 3.5 star because it is an older hotel. Would recommend if you want an average hotel stay/experience.

Well! Well! Mr. and Mrs. Ehhh! I am sorry that you didn’t enjoy your stay as we do pride ourselves on taking great care of guests as you can see from most of the other past guests who have written to tripadvisor.com. The Hacienda can not yet be considered old as it opened in the Fall of 2011. I guess we can’t please everybody all of the time, but we wish you well.

My family of four spent three wonderful nights at the Hacienda & Spa at Hotel Santa Fe. It was my daughters' Spring Break from elementary school. Upon check-in we were greeted warmly and offered a free shuttle ride downtown as we were early for check-in. We happily decided to walk to strech our legs and found that the shuttle was not necessary as we could get to the Plaza in ~10 minutes walking time. The weather in Santa Fe was beautiful every day.

The front desk called when our room was ready and just ask us to grab a key when we returned. When we came back we grabbed our key and headed to the room without waiting in any line. The room was spacious, well appointed, and had a fireplace and welcome fruit basket. Later, they even provided pre-bedtime chocolates which the girls loved!

We enjoyed the lounge for a peaceful complimentary happy hour in a tasteful room with soothing music (not rowdy and definately kid friendly). We went there each night to plan our dinner in the multiple restaurants surrounding the hotel. We did take the shuttle to one restaurant that a friend had recommended. the shuttle was easy to use and they picked us up quickly for our return.

The driver, the maid, the butler in the lounge, the front desk folks (who gave us free bottled water every time we walked past) and all the staff were nothing but friendly and helpful. We plan to go back next year for more art, the pool, relaxation, and the friendly atmosphere of the Hacienda & Spa at hotel Santa Fe!

Room Tip: Floor four is the first floor. We had no problem with this but if you want a higher floor just know...

My stay at the Hotel Santa Fe was superb! I could only stay one day but what wonderful memories. A beautiful room...refreshing swim in the pool...renewed energy from the hot tub....delicious dinner.....and.....exquisite jewelry purchase in the gift shop. The staff is welcoming and everyone wears a smile. I brought Pippin (sheltie) with me and he even received treats! Am looking forward to my next visit. Thank you

Not much to add beyond what others have said. I was here for a conference, and the food provided by the hotel was much better than typical hotel food. Staff was very helpful in providing directions, transportation, recommendations, etc.

There are several different routes for walking to the Plaza area. Some are much more pleasant than others - make sure you check with the front desk before heading out.
