I like to start negative reviews with at least one positive thing. At El Campanario, that was that the waitress was very friendly. Sick and coughing everywhere (like on the food), but friendly. Other than that, nothing was good at all.
The food prices DO NOT reflect the food quality. If I pay $12 a plate for food-- it better not taste like gristle and dishwater. Nasty. The beans were not real. The rice was clearly instant. The fried ice cream was $5 and consisted of a freezer burned scoop of cheap ice cream covered with what I think might have been spray on spackle. The bathrooms were horrendous and filthy. The ENTIRE staff was coughing their guts up. Let's just say I was grateful to have only caught a cold from the waitress and not something that put me in the hospital for massive vomiting from the food.
I hear this restaurant is owned by the old owners of Little Anita's. I loved Little Anita's-- I can't help but wonder why would they dishonor that restaurants memory by creating such a terrible replacement?
